If you want to feel horrible, “What If Alley” will absolutely take you there.

When our brains start scanning for danger, they’ll find it—especially down that road. And there are no street lights there.

So pause.
Gently turn around.
Come back to what you know, not what you fear might happen.

You don’t have to keep walking down that path. 🫶

We all have parts of us.
The confident part.
The overwhelmed part.
The people-pleasing part.
The protective part.
…and the really little part that just wants to feel safe, seen, and held.

In therapy, we don’t try to get rid of these parts.
We get curious about them.

Because that “overreacting” part? It’s usually protecting something younger.
That “shutting down” part? It learned that was the safest option at some point.

Nothing about you is random. Every part has a job.

These nesting dolls are one of my favorite ways to show this—layer by layer, we gently uncover what’s underneath… until we meet the part of you that needs the most care.

Not to fix it.
Not to rush it.
Just to understand it.

And when that happens?
Things start to soften in a way that force never could.

You are not too much.
You are made of many parts—
and all of them are worthy of compassion. 🫶

“Hold the mother first” isn’t just a phrase—it’s a foundation.

When we support the mother, we support the entire system.
Her nervous system becomes the anchor.
Her capacity expands.
Her child feels it.

Care for the caregiver… and watch the ripple effect. 💜

Teen parents: they don’t need you to have the perfect answers. They just need you to be there.
To keep showing up.
To be a steady, consistent presence in their life—even when they try to pull away.

They’re navigating a hard world, trying to find independence and figure out who they are… while still having an underdeveloped brain and a deeply dependent emotional system.

They may push, test, and distance—but they still need you.
Stay with them. 🤍

We’ve recently been so blessed by an increase in donations for our Community Resource Closet, and we are incredibly grateful for the support from our community 💜 (Photo does not represent what is currently in our closet)

Our request form is up to date, and we are happy to provide what we can to those in need.

As a reminder, our closet is intended for urgent, short-term support. To ensure we can serve as many families as possible, we provide items in small quantities and appreciate your understanding in helping us stretch resources across requests.
If you’re looking to donate, you can do so through our Amazon Wish List, or by dropping off items in our lobby during business hours. Feel free to text our office phone ahead of time to confirm hours, as they may vary day to day.

If you’re in need of support, please use the request form linked in our bio—we’ll be in touch soon 🤍

Part of being a social worker means continuing to learn. Every year we complete continuing education to maintain our license—but one of my favorite parts of those trainings is the resource sharing.

Clinicians constantly pass along books, tools, and ideas that have helped them better serve their clients. It’s one of the things I love most about this field—we all want what’s best for our community. 💜

Many of the books on this shelf came from training recommendations over the years… and I’m always ready to add a few more.

(PS: This is just one little stack. There are many more.)

Children feel safest when they know what to expect from us.

Consistent limits.
Follow-through with consequences.
Repair when rupture happens.

These things create safety.

But when our responses shift—yelling one minute, overcompensating the next, withdrawing another—children are left guessing. And when expectations feel unpredictable, regulation becomes much harder.

Unlearning is hard work. It means noticing the beliefs, expectations, and patterns we picked up along the way—and deciding what no longer belongs.

What’s something you might benefit from unlearning? 🤍

March is Social Work Month, and all three of us at TC are proud social workers. 🤍

Over the years we’ve heard all kinds of myths about our field… so we decided it’s time to bust a few of them.

Some of these might sound familiar, but we’re curious—what’s a myth about social work that we didn’t include?
