Sincerest gratitude to Emily Pritchard of KY3 News for raising awareness during her recurring Buddy Check 3 segment, most recently shining a light on the importance of breast density and supplemental screening in those with dense breasts in the detection of . Although we still have work to do in and many other states to ensure all women with dense breasts, regardless of risk, are covered by insurance, contact your local breast imaging center to see what supplemental screening options exist as well as cost. We will continue to advocate for insurance coverage of these lifesaving exams without co-pay or deductible.

It was an honor to be interviewed by Erica Sloan, Senior Health Writer at SELF Magazine, about the important topic of young women with . My overarching message to young women is get risk assessed by age 25 to see if earlier and heightened imaging surveillance is warranted and if something feels off, listen to your body! Please schedule an appointment with a breast imaging center who can perform a proper evaluation.

Thank you to Alisa Nelson of Missourinet News for our discussion on “Show Me Today, The Voice of Missouri” to discuss the recent research conducted by the American College of Radiology Neiman Health Policy Team and myself which analyzed the effects of the passage of the 2019 screening mammography legislation in . We also discussed other statistics regarding as a whole in our state as well as how we fare in comparison to the rest of the United States. To listen to our discussion:

A new study shows a 2019 Missouri law expanding mammogram coverage boosted breast cancer screening rates – especially for Medicaid patients. I was so delighted to collaborate with Dr. Toma Omofoye, MD, FSBI of MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Randy C. Miles, MD, MPH of Denver Health on this original article which underscores the importance of understanding that there is not a one-size-fits all approach when it comes to diverse practice settings, whether in the United States or globally. Fortunately, there are resources, policy measures, and research practices regardless of setting that can enhance care. As breast radiologists, we can play such an integral role regardless of where we practice to ensure patients are receiving the best, quality care they can given the circumstances. I sincerely appreciated the invitation to speak at The Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality, Innovations in Quality Forum on “Generative AI: Disruptions & Advances in Healthcare” alongside powerhouse speakers on the subject. Although much is to be considered when it comes to the utilization of in clinical practice, its positive implications cannot be denied in enhancing how we deliver patient care, and I am witnessing this firsthand in clinical practice. Thank you to the Institute for shining a light on this important topic.

I had a wonderful time chatting with United States Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. during the American College of Radiology Annual Meeting. Sincerest gratitude to the Senator for co-sponsoring the re-introduction of The Find it Early Act, which would ensure that all health insurance plans cover screening and diagnostic breast imaging with no out-of-pocket costs for women with dense breasts or at high risk for breast cancer. Also last week, the Senator introduced The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act which would assist in access to care for our patients, not just in radiology, but the entire house of medicine. Thank you, Senator, for sponsoring these critical pieces of legislation (as well as being a diehard Royals fan). Go Kansas City Royals!
