Today on World Prematurity Day, we're joining in to help raise awareness for maternal and infant health.

At Liberty Hospital, we care for babies delivered at 34 weeks and later, providing oxygen delivery, phototherapy for jaundice treatment, IV therapy including antibiotics, monitoring and treatment of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, and hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.

“Managing Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes requires daily attention and can seem overwhelming,” Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Lisa Rystrom, RN, MSN, said. “That’s why our Self-Management Education and Support program offers one-on-one counseling and follow-up in a caring environment where people can learn about their diagnosis and gain the skills they need to stay on top of it.”

Congratulations to Paytyn Guess, ADN, RN, for being this month's DAISY Foundation Award recipient! The DAISY Award honors outstanding nurses who provide exceptional care and compassion to their patients. She was nominated by a co-worker who said:

“I had a sick patient who was visibly anxious and distressed. Paytyn immediately jumped in to help. She provided verbal reassurance and empathy and talked him through everything we were doing. She helped calm his anxiety with personal touch, emotional reassurance and empathy. This was not even her patient, and she had a full patient load herself! Shortly before, she had helped take care of another patient who was belligerent towards staff. Paytyn's demeanor did not deviate. Her ability to remain calm and level with emotionally complex patients is astounding. Paytyn is such a valuable resource and team player for the emergency department, and she treats every single patient with patience, kindness and empathy.”
