Today we pause to say THANK YOU.

It is Activities Professionals Week, and today we celebrate the heart behind the fun at Avalon — Jackie Nelson, our Director of Activities.

Jackie has built a robust, engaging, and meaningful activities program that goes far beyond a calendar on the wall. From nursing home raves to Fourth of July celebrations, live Elvis performances, baking days, dancing, singing, and moments of pure joy — Jackie Christner creates experiences that give our residents something to look forward to every single day.

She understands that activities are not “extra.” They are essential to dignity, connection, memory, and quality of life. Her time, her talents, and the treasures she pours into our residents are felt throughout the entire building.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Our January Babies 🎉

Each month at Avalon, we go big for birthdays—and January did not disappoint! We were blessed to have so many families join us. Thank you for coming. You truly have no idea the impact your presence makes on your loved ones. It matters more than you know.

We enjoyed live entertainment, lots of laughter, and the cake.
Yes… that cake.
Made right here by our amazing kitchen—moist, rich, perfectly decadent, and dangerously delicious. I may have snuck two pieces (and I don’t even eat cake).

Meet Madison.
Our activities aide with a thousand talents and a heart that fills a room.

Guitar, piano, vocals—hand her an instrument and watch what happens. Conversations pause. Smiles spread. Residents lean in. Hearts soften. What starts as music turns into connection.

Once very shy, Madison found her voice here—and now she shares it freely, boldly, and beautifully with the people who matter most. She doesn’t just perform; she captivates. She doesn’t just play music; she creates moments our residents will remember.

This is what it looks like when someone steps into their calling.
This is what joy sounds like.
This is Avalon.

🎨 Tie-Dye, Talent, and a Whole Lot of Style 🎨

Our residents decided it was time to make their own tie-dye shirts, and the results did not disappoint 😄
Between the colors, the laughter, and the creativity, we may have accidentally launched a fashion line.

Every shirt is unique, full of personality, and worn with pride. Turns out talent never retires—and style definitely doesn’t either.

A big thank you to our Resident Council and our Activities Director for making this fun, messy, and memorable day possible 💙

🦆 National Rubber Ducky Day at Avalon 🦆

Today we celebrated National Rubber Ducky Day, and Avalon was filled with laughter and smiles. Our residents enjoyed rubber duck races and a special visit from our very own rubber ducky, which brought excitement and plenty of joy.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed all the fun, the friendly competition, and the simple moments that made the day special. Days like today remind us that it’s the little things that create the biggest smiles.

We truly enjoy life here and wish nothing but success and blessings to everyone. This past year brought so many firsts for our residents, team, and community—and we’re just getting started.
