I hope this letter finds you well. In light of the very sad passing of Dr. Larry Sherrer MD, we understand that you may have concerns about your ongoing eye care needs. While we deeply regret any inconvenience this situation has caused, we want to assure you that your eye health remains our top priority.

As a valued patient of Pacific Eye Center, you have the option to transfer your medical records to and continue your care with Bennett Eye Institute/Eye Center of Hawaii (ECH), who uphold the same commitment to excellence in eye care that you have come to expect from us. They will be seeing patients in the same location in Lihue where Dr. Sherrer practiced.

Bennett Eye Institute/Eye Center of Hawaii offers a comprehensive range of eye services including routine eye exams, advanced diagnostic testing, and specialized treatments for various eye conditions. Their team of highly skilled ophthalmologists and dedicated staff is committed to providing you with personalized care and exceptional service every step of the way.

Additionally, the clinical staff of Pacific Eye Center, whom you have come to know and trust, will remain on board to provide comprehensive, compassionate and patient-centered care.

We understand that choosing a new eye care provider is an important decision, and we are here to support you in any way we can. If you would like to schedule an appointment with Bennett Eye Institute/Eye Center of Hawaii, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (808) 245-5377. Our staff will be happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Your medical records are confidential. A copy may be transferred to Bennett Eye Institute/Eye Center or another doctor or released to you or to another person who you designate, only with your written request and permission. Whichever physician you choose to see from now on, please sign an authorization form and return it to our office so we may transfer a copy of your records to your new doctor. Record copying fees may apply. If you have questions regarding your records please call our office at (808)245-5377.

What are the symptoms of a cataract?

Cataracts are a common part of the eye’s aging process. Eventually, they can cause:
Vision that’s cloudy, blurry, foggy or filmy.
Sensitivity to bright sunlight, lamps or headlights.
Glare (seeing a halo around lights), especially when you drive at night with oncoming headlights.
Prescription changes in glasses, including sudden nearsightedness.
Double vision.
Need for brighter light to read.
Difficulty seeing at night (poor night vision).
Changes in the way you see color.
