As we enter our final week here on Kauaʻi we want to mahalo everyone who made all of this possible.

For many this healing space was their last hope and saving grace. As much healing was given, it was also received.

I’m excited to announce that Leilani will be taking over this space and providing her services to our community. Please support this awesome local business and keep this healing space alive.

Aloha The Specific Family -

I hope this email finds you well. It has been 9 years of practicing on Kauaʻi and now 4 years on Maui. I became a Chiropractor because it was the only thing that helped me when I was 22 years old, suffering from migraine headaches.

Back in 2014, I joined the best Chiropractic group in the world, The Specific Chiropractic Centers, and opened up on Kauaʻi to serve my community. Then in 2019, we opened up on Maui to continue my vision of having an office on every Hawaiian island.

While that vision is alive and well, I no longer will be carrying the torch for both of my offices. Yes, that means Iʻll be closing both The Specific Chiropractic Centers on Kauaʻi and Maui.

Itʻs a tough decision that was made out of love and hope. As all of you can imagine, running two offices on two different islands, is hard in itself. Combine with the pandemic challenges, increasing costs across the board, inability to hire new doctors, and personal health, I'm lucky that I was able to keep it going for this long.

What kept me going was all of you. I take care of the best patients in the world. So as you come in for your appointments, I will be sharing with you the next steps for your health journey and how I'll make sure that you continue to be well.

Some of you may be wondering what's next for me and what love has to do with this. Well, I absolutely love Hawai'i, particularly my home, Kaua'i, and all of its people. My focus will be shifted toward the broader challenges we face as a community and maximizing my ability as a council member to make life better for us all.

There is some serious healing needed and my hope is that my holistic and systematic approach can help as many people as possible. It's time to make the right adjustments at the right time at the right place.

In addition, my time and energy are going to shift towards building my family and my life with my future wife (July 1st is our wedding). The days of working 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day, are no longer conducive for me to be a good husband, especially if I hope to be a father one day.

With all that said, for my current patients, details will be shared at your next appointment. For my past patients, it's been an honor to be part of your journey.

--Public invited to Rice Street Block Party on Oct. 29; portion of Rice Street will be closed for the event--

LĪHU‘E – The public is invited to the Rice Street Block Party, a family-focused event, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

“This event aims to bring our community together in our revitalized Rice Street district to experience art, culture, food, shopping, entertainment, and to learn more about our Līhu‘e Civic Center Mobility Plan and Kaua‘i Climate Adaptation Plan which are currently in the planning stages,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “The first Rice Street Block Party was held in 2017 to help our community envision what our then-proposed Rice Street improvements would look like. Now that our Līhu‘e Town Core Mobility and Revitalization Project is complete, we can see up-close how far we’ve come. Mahalo to all partners, sponsors, volunteers, and community groups involved in organizing this family-fun event for us all to enjoy.”

To accommodate the block party, Rice Street (between Umi Street and Kalena Street) will be closed from 3 to 10 p.m., on Oct. 29. Kress Street will also be closed (between Rice Street and Halenani Street). Umi, Hardy, and Kalena streets will remain open during the event.

The block party will feature various entertainment along Rice Street, including a keiki zone with a climbing wall, rides, and games, and a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i. Live music will be performed by Kapena, Cruz Control, Kawaiola Productions, and Cory Mira. There will also be live muralists, classic cars, electric vehicles on display, and food and local artisan vendors.

Free parking will be available at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall and the Līhu‘e Civic Center. The public is also encouraged to take the Kaua‘i Bus, which will provide free service islandwide on Oct. 29.
