This service has been needed for a long time!

Before now, when someone was in crisis and needed more time to heal, they often had to leave our community to get that care. That meant being separated from family, familiar places, and the stability they knew.

This new Extended Stay Unit changes that.

It allows people the time their brain needs to heal.
Time for symptoms to improve.
Time to build strength and skills, right here at home.

MHRSB Executive Director Tammie Colon shared how meaningful this moment is for our community at the ribbon cutting.

What is the new Extended Stay Unit at the We Care Regional Crisis Center?

MHRSB Executive Director Tammie Colon explained it simply at the ribbon cutting.

This space works like rehab after a medical emergency, but for mental health.

It gives people the time and support they need to stabilize and reenter the community.

Strong, sustainable housing should be built with the community, not for the community.

ABLE and community partners are hosting a listening session to gather input on potential Class 2 Residential Care Facilities (RF2) for rural Allen County residents with disabilities. πŸ€πŸ’¬ This conversation will help ensure any future facility is safe, person-centered, and reflects the day-to-day realities of rural life. 🌾

We welcome residents, potential operators, and community members!
We especially want to hear from:
🏘️ Individuals with lived experience in RF2 facilities
πŸ‘₯ Community members impacted by residential housing
πŸ› οΈ Operators who can share day-to-day needs and considerations
