At our Annual LCH Life Member luncheon we welcomed guest speaker author, Molly Weis. She has written a fascinating book, "Facing the Impossible" about the first recorded recovery of human rabies 55 years ago right here in Lima. Molly's Dad, Dr. Tom Weis lead physician of that famous medical team along with rabies survivor Matt Winkler and his wife Darlene also joined us. Molly shared some of the oral history from the doctors and nurses of the ten acute days. Upon reflection, they recognized their impersonal skills, “the art of medicine” was as important as their clinical treatment “the “science of medicine.” They encouraged the next generation to gain both skills.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Great Pumpkin decorating contest. We loved having all of the entries to display in the facility. Rayona Nelson was our 1st place winner, Kelly Gaines came in second place, and Mila Trinko was our 3rd place winner. Congratulations to all.

We made Puppy Chow to snack on during our cards and games. The residents enjoyed making it as much as they did eating it!
