âDoth mine eyes deceive me?â (Shakespeare)
Yes, they probably do. Over and over every single day. Unless youâre looking at it in the natural world- in front of your face- itâs hard to know what is true and what isnât anymore. Itâs pretty obvious if you know me, I created the first image with AI this morning. But the second image... thatâs real life. Thatâs me in my pjs, not yet strong enough in my core to really put my hips above my shoulders and not being confident enough to even TRY a handstand anywhere away from a wall or a spotter (especially on some rocks like âpretend meâ in the photo). I donât bring this forward to throw stones at people who CAN do poses like this (ie: poses that take a lot of time and practice to get into), because good for them! (I DO cringe a bit when they think we need to see their bare ass while theyâre doing it, unless the goal is actually to show us their ass and not share a sacred practice like yoga? Anyway, I digress.) I bring this forward to remind you to use much discernment (in general), but be thoughtful when youâre looking for a good yoga teacher, healing arts practitioner, etc. People can make themselves look AND sound pretty freaking knowledgable, but you might be going down a very shallow rabbit hole. Itâs important to be who you are and express yourself authentically, but be mindful of what youâre putting out there for people and of what is true and what isnât. And definitely be mindful of what youâre taking in. I promise to always keep it real for you. Jammies and all. xoxoxo
