Out with the old… and in with the new 🚌✨

Well… not quite goodbye just yet. Our "old" bus is sticking around a little longer but it’s officially passing the torch.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous grant, we’ve been able to purchase a much-needed new bus to keep our programs rolling strong.

Shoutout to Lincoln Sign Company for the fresh new graphics bringing it all to life 👏

More miles. More athletes. More impact.

Next stop: summer sports 🚴🚣🏓⛳

Back in the office after an amazing few days at the Move United Education Conference on Cape Cod!

Our team made the most of it—learning, connecting, and representing NEDS:
🎤 Geoff & Ed presented on Breaking Barriers through Better Training for Adaptive Coaches
🎤 Rina & Janet presented on building & sustaining an Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Program to improve service delivery

Huge congrats to Geoff and volunteer Tim for leveling up and earning their Level 2 Adaptive Mountain Bike certification 👏 And shoutout to Lily for participating in the Unified 5K!

Shea, Terry, and Vance were also there… reportedly present… but no evidence was documented 🤔😂

📣 Shout out to Mark & Owen Anketell for getting our bus to the event—we appreciate YOU!

It may have been cold, but the energy, ideas, and connections made it all worth it. We’re excited to bring it all back to our programs 💪

As the winter season comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude. ❄️

To our incredible volunteers thank you for showing up, giving your time, and making every lesson meaningful. Your energy, patience, and passion are what make this community so special. 💙

To our host resorts, Loon Mountain Resort and Bretton Woods, your partnership and support make our work possible. We truly couldn’t do it without you. 🙌

Because of you, this winter we were able to provide:
⛷ 2,258 lessons to 523 student-athletes
🇺🇸 168 lessons to 49 Veterans
✨ 148 new student-athletes welcomed to our community

That’s more than numbers; that’s confidence built, independence gained, and joy experienced on the mountain.

Next up: summer sports ☀️🚴🚣‍♀️🏓⛳
See you soon!

Adaptive sports has lost a trailblazer.

Bob Hall made history at the 1975 Boston Marathon as the first officially recognized wheelchair finisher, helping transform what inclusion in endurance racing looks like today. His innovation in racing chair design and his advocacy for athletes with disabilities helped shape the growth of wheelchair racing around the world.

His legacy lives on in every athlete who lines up at the start line. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the adaptive sports community.

We’re honored to be this year’s recipient of the Lift Up Our Community initiative! And this chair…even more incredible in person 😍 Huge thanks to everyone who helped support NEDS—your impact truly means the world! 💙

Today at Bretton Woods Ski Area, we proudly shared the results of this year’s Lift Up Our Community initiative in support of our partner, New England Disabled Sports.

Hello everyone, I'm Celine McArthur, your Slopeside Storyteller.

Through our annual auction—featuring a retired Fabyan’s Express Triple Chair transformed into a one-of-a-kind art piece by local artist Emily Royal—we raised more than $2,000 in support of adaptive sports programs that change lives.

That impact translates directly into opportunity: 41 winter adaptive ski lessons or 80 summer adaptive lessons for individuals living with disabilities—each one creating access, independence, confidence, and joy on the mountain.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who bid, contributed, and continues to believe in the power of the mountain to bring people together—and to Emily Royal for bringing new life and meaning to the chair through her artwork.

You can see this amazing partnership in action in these Slopeside Spotlights:
