A little over a year ago I was presented with an opportunity to add a little cheese business to my family of food businesses. My dear friend had built this sweet cheese business from the ground up, and was ready for her next adventure and ready to pass the baton off to someone else.
Knowing that everything Alexis touches turns to gold, I knew taking over this business where she left off would be SUCH AN HONOR. So I said yes to the chance to buy it, and haven’t looked back.
The first few months of this new adventure, I asked Alexis an EMBARRASSING amount of basic cheese questions, watched all the tutorials on You Tube on how to make a salami rose and learned very quickly that making beautiful charcuterie spreads is truly more of an art but still a bit of science.
This past weekend I celebrated the year anniversary of buying this little cheese business by preparing for my second 600-person event (well, the last one was for 700 people, but who is counting anyways 😅). The event is in a few days, and I haven’t had much of a chance to come up for air, but I wanted to take a moment to celebrate what 365 days of a brand new adventure can bring to someone’s life, someone’s family, someone’s community.
Alexis, I deeply grateful for your friendship and for your trust in carrying your legacy on. You built this business from a servant heart, on a foundation of love for others and good cheese. Every time I pick up the cheese cutter you passed long to me, I am reminded of what a gift your friendship is in my life, and what a gift this business has been.
To my INCREDIBLE TEAM: Your tenaciousness, talent and grit take this business to the next level
To Nathan, and Emma and Bella… thank you for always believing in my crazy dreams and being so willing to learn how to fold the most beautiful salami roses… sometimes at midnight.
And to the hundreds and thousands of people I have had the honor of feeding over the last year… thank you for trusting me to serve you, to feed you, to celebrate you. Life is short, but oh so sweet, and should absolutely be celebrated in the most deliciously beautiful of ways.
To say this business has blessed me is an understatement.
