My disordered eating and exercise was how I communicated that I was hurting and struggling. I may not always love what I see in the mirror, but I would not go back to the mental space I was in when I was restricted and exercise obsessed even if it meant having a smaller body.

I was deeply restricting, disordered, deregulated - and still trying to be a yoga teacher with influence over other people’s well being. Wow. The good news is that teaching others to call out bu****it taught me to call out my own.

Yoga has always brought me back to loving me but has never failed to ask me what the f**k I am actually doing to love me. With love always comes boundaries and accountability - and that’s what yoga reminds me every time I unroll my mat.

A home yoga practice truly is, for me, one of the most venerable practices. Free from performance and competition. No need to have a cute outfit or a pricey mat. No cost. No running late. There when you need it, day or night. You get to play any music you want.

As a yoga teacher, in the classes I lead I love helping others build a “tool box” so that they can practice anywhere, anytime, with any teacher or alone and feel confident.

How is your home practice going? Or do you only practice in a group class? Theres no wrong way!
