🏋️‍♀️ Weight lifting belts are great! Especially if you are consistently lifting heavy or trying to push yourself to your limits. They are a great tool that can help with stability of your spine by providing feedback to your core.

🏋️‍♀️ However, weight belts work best with proper breathing techniques. So, if you have not mastered proper intra abdominal pressure (IAP), then I suggest you start there before adding a belt. If you are recently postpartum, post abdominal or low back injury, then take your time getting back to the heavy loads and really work on your IAP/breathing techniques for proper core bracing to reduce injury.

🏋️‍♀️ If you are having difficulty with finding the right breath, then you can use the belt, under light load, to give your core tactile feedback.

Good luck out there!! Let me know if you have questions or need any help with anything. You can shoot me a comment or DM 👍

Anyone else feel this? 🙋🏻‍♀️ I know I sure do, trying to fully recover from a chronic shoulder injury 🥴

In the rehabilitation and sports performance industry, progress is definitely not linear. We get it, understand it, and most of the time can empathize. But, whether it’s linear or not, is there progress? That’s the key to focus on.

Many factors can help or hinder rehab. Not only are there physical components, but also psychological components to consider.

The key to rehab is the right program with consistency over enough time. You’ll get there. Trust the process and keep going. 💪🏼

If you feel like you’re not progressing, ask more questions and seek out help. DM me with questions!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Who here has ever heard of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport? You may have heard it referred to Female Athlete Triad or hypothalamic amenorrhea.

This is essentially under fueling your body to meet the intensity of your sport specific demands. This is found in both women and men…adolescents are not off the hook either!

Contraceptives can also not give a full picture into symptoms of amenorrhea because they keep you “regular.”

If you register with some or a lot of these symptoms, this may be something you want to talk to your doctor or a registered dietician about.

Please feel free to DM me with any questions or concerns you may have. I’d love to help!

On Wednesday 12/29, I closed a chapter in my professional life in order to start a new one. To say leaving after 12 years is bittersweet is an understatement. I shed many tears...over the coworkers and patients I'll leave behind...but, also felt really loved and supported by a lot of people in taking this next step.

I'm excited to help so many more people in this new capacity. I'll be able to be more hands on and really have the time to spend with each patient. I'm excited to see lives changed with gaining knowledge about their bodies and becoming more functional with less pain. I'm excited to see how much I grow as a clinician and to have a recharge in this profession I love. But, mostly I'm excited for my family to see me happy and to be able to spend more time with them.

January 5th is right around the corner! Don't wait to book an appointment with me! Or if you aren't sure what you need or how I can help, just shoot me a message or email me at amanda@woodheadpt.com.

Here's to 2022!
