Ok so I love me some positive affirmations, and yes research shows they can truly change the brain. So YES, SAY ‘EM!!!
BUT this here is an example of toxic positivity. So yeah dwelling and/or ruminating is not helpful. But… we’re HUMAN. And it’s GOOD to share the real stuff too. I’m a therapist. And FYI. I’m tired today! And I’ll be tired and at the same time grab onto the joy. TIRED ANXIOUS DEPRESSED SCARED HAPPY ANGRY RESTLESS LONELY EXCITED: ITS ALL OK! SAY IT! It’s healthy! Ok rant over. 😬👊🏼

It’s June, the month in which Pride is celebrated! 🏳️‍🌈 I stand in support of the LGBTQ community.
*LGB youth are almost 5x as likely to have attempted su***de as compared to heterosexual youth.
*LGB youth who come from highly rejecting families are 8.4 x as likely to have attempted su***de as LGB peers who reported no or low level of family rejection.
Grateful for families in the world who love, support, and continue to learn. The trauma of not being accepted by people for who someone is, especially those that ‘are supposed to’ love unconditionally like family of origin, is expansive and life altering. I see you. I wish for your healing and the healing and understanding of our society. And I have a mom hug for anyone who would benefit from one. ❤️🤗

Good reminder! Many people struggle with regret and an assortment of accompanying feelings (guilt, shame, self-blame, etc.) but so frequently, people truly do the best they can with what they have in the moment. And when we are able we make different choices. May be helpful to practice this one. ✨

I like this quote but I’d cross out the word failing! Trying to grow and change is not a ‘fail’ and moving backward can sometimes move us forward. If you continue to take actions to support your goals, even one tiny step at a time, change is possible. Healing is possible. ✨

Some people love the snow but for some this weather may perpetuate symptoms of depression, sadness, isolation. Reminder to care for yourselves as you’re able, try to find little moments of joy, use the healthy tools and skills you have to be ok in this moment and one moment at a time. This too shall pass. 💖❄️
