A few months ago I injured my shoulder playing disc golf—it was actually black and blue from an over-use injury. In addition, I was dealing with tennis and golfer’s elbow nagging me regularly. Since I’m a personal trainer I knew all the right things to do to get warmed up and work on strength and range of motion and I could get myself back on the course but it was always a niggling issue and I definitely never really felt *stronger*.
So, I decided it was time to get really serious about this and figure out what it was going to take to have that actually feel great throwing, not just ”get by”. So I did. I took a collaboration class from a sports therapist that specializes in baseball and a connective tissue expert, I dug into the latest info on rebuilding and strengthening connective tissue, I took the whole system into account and created a program that has my shoulders feeling better than they ever have! I’m still using it and will continue to because connective tissue is slow growing but it absolutely makes you more bulletproof!
Pretty much daily I see/hear disc golfers and other athletes discussing their own injuries and I feel compelled to tell everyone what I did to heal my , and , but it’s not simple enough to throw it in a post or have a short chat. Getting serious about shoulder health can be complicated because it’s a complex system! So I’ve decided to create a protocol that I can share far and wide. I’m also open to any suggestions of format that will make compliance easier for you. I’m trying to create something people *will do*! It is not a quick fix.
