Are you ready for some interesting information? Here’s my story… ‼️‼️‼️
Throughout each of my pregnancies, I experienced what I thought was “prodromal labor” as early as 4-5 months. I would rush to the OB ER, worried that I might be in early labor, only to be reassured that everything was fine and sent home with the label of “Braxton Hicks.” Yet, no doctor ever considered the possibility that my gallbladder could be the culprit behind the labor-like pain I was feeling, despite it being a well-known cause of similar symptoms during pregnancy.
This journey has been a long one, full of unanswered questions—until now. On January 18th, I finally had my gallbladder removed. The pain I’d been experiencing, both during and after my pregnancies, has greatly subsided, and I can feel the difference.
This experience has been a reminder to never stop advocating for yourself. As women, our concerns deserve to be heard, not dismissed. I often wish a doctor had said, “What you’re experiencing is unusual for pregnancy at this stage, let’s investigate further.” It could have saved me a lot of money spent on ER bills and, more importantly, given me peace of mind during my pregnancies.
A study published in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology found that 1 in 1,000 to 3,000 pregnancies may require a cholecystectomy. (Gallbladder removal.)
