High blood pressure, or hypertension, is when the force of blood against your artery walls is consistently too high, raising your risk of stroke and heart disease.

If you’re not sure if you have high blood pressure, see your health care provider for a checkup.

High blood pressure is defined as a top number of at least 130 and/or a bottom number of at least 80.

Thank you for your patience with our phones and computers as we use our new Epic software. We are working hard to improve our efficiency and ability to respond.

As far as we can tell, we ARE receiving MyChart messages. Please, if possible, download the MyChart app and set up your account. Then you can easily send us a message about needing a medication refill or any non-urgent matter.

Some of the refill requests from pharmacies may be taking a circuitous route through the Bermuda triangle before showing up on our desktops. We are working diligently to improve this.

The Epic software is an improvement in communication between physicians and with patients. For example, a patient of ours recently went to Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota, and their Mayo visit note appeared in my message box on the same day.

Now, the WRMC clinic/hospital/emergency dept physicians and APRNs see and use the same electronic medical record and access the same updated list of medications, lab results, and imaging reports.

We are also learning how to streamline our inboxes to better receive messages Feel free to come by our clinic if you need any help adding the MyChart app and take a look at the wonderful new Lincoln Community building across the street.

Heads up: The streets around the town square will be one-way soon if they aren’t already!
