๐ŸŽถ Still Singing Strong ๐ŸŽถ

In 1988, Dick Kluver helped found the Homestead Harmonizers, a beloved caroling group in Beatrice, Nebraska. Years later, life tested his harmony. After surviving two strokes, Dick became a Bryan Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation graduate in 2017 and again in 2018. Speech changes made singing difficult, but not impossible. With practice, patience and heart, Dick found his way back to song and to his a ca****la group.

Every year, Dick and the Homestead Harmonizers return to the rehab unit to sing for patients spending the holidays in the hospital. โ€œI am thankful for the opportunity to give back and inspire stroke survivors by singing,โ€ Dick shares. His voice โ€“ and their music โ€“ bring comfort, hope and joy to patients and staff.

๐ŸŒŸ Meet our newest Milestone Achiever: Lydia ๐ŸŒŸ
When Lydia came to Bryan Pediatric Rehab at six months, she had a repaired cleft palate, a feeding tube and a genetic condition that made moving and eating hard. She could only roll to one side and needed support to sit.

Now at 18 months, Lydia is crawling, pulling up, cruising and even taking steps! She grasps toys, loves bubbles and squishy dinosaurs and is building problem-solving skills.

She enjoys textured foods, brings a spoon to her mouth and is working toward saying goodbye to her g-tube. Lydia is learning to express her needs and use a communication device.

Way to go, Lydia!
