Today is World Heart Day. World Heart Day informs people around the globe that Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s leading cause of death claiming 18.6 million lives each year, and highlights the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control CVD. It aims to drive action to educate people that by controlling risk factors such as to***co use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, at least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided. We are celebrating Nurses Week here at Interim Healthcare! We appreciate our nurses and the impact they make in the Lincoln community. A great example of this comes from our nurse Ashlee going the extra mile to make a difference in our patients lives. Thank you Ashlee for your dedication.

Family Praise for Lincoln NE RN Ashlee Burrows

When a patient's family member tasks the time to write-in a note of praise, there's very little we can add for context. Their words do really say it all:

"As I write this email, I have tears in my eyes...happy tears. One of your amazing home health nurses, Ashlee Burrows, has truly been an angel sent by God. My mom suffers from severe mental illness, has tons of childhood and adulthood trauma and really struggles to trust someone new.

My mom is a wonderful person, once you peel some layers off, but that seems to always take so much time. Not with Ashlee she just peeled all those layers off my mom with her initial intake on the first day. My mom has a beautiful heart and made sure to raise my siblings and me to have the same heart for people but she can be extremely hard to get along with. It’s either her way or the highway and she only sees three colors: black, white, and red. Ashlee has really made an effort to get to know my mom in such a short time.

Ashlee not only takes the time to go ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure my mom's medical needs are met but also shows my mom that she cares. My mom does not get along with women especially healthcare professionals, due to her being sick all her life. She knows her body better than anyone.

My mom gets emotional just at the thought of Ashlee not coming by three days a week, once she gets all better. This may not make sense to you, but I’m telling you, if you knew my mom, you’d understand how much of a big deal this really is. One day recently, she was very persistent that I had to get her home because Ashlee was coming and she knew she was on a tight schedule to get to her other patients. You’re so lucky to have Ashlee as a nurse working for your agency. I hope that’s recognized because Ashlee has removed so much stress from me and my mom. We love Ashlee so much! I just wanted to make you aware of the impact she’s had on our family. Thank you, Ashlee!"
