Training is not just about knowing what a tourniquet is or having a med kit nearby.

It is about understanding what to do, when to do it, and how to stay effective under real pressure.

In Defensive Medicine 1, we focus on the critical minutes before EMS arrives and the decisions that can make the biggest difference.

This training is not just for gunshot wounds. The skills apply to car accidents, falls, sports injuries, workplace trauma, and other serious emergencies in which someone nearby must act.

Tomorrow morning in Elk Grove, we will be working through hands-on, practical training designed to help ordinary people respond more effectively in serious situations.

If you have been thinking about taking this class, this is the time.

Hands-on matters.

In an emergency, it is not enough to own the gear. You need to know how to use it under pressure, with your hands working, your brain moving, and time working against you.

That is what we train in Defensive Medicine 1.

This class is built around practical, hands-on skills for the critical minutes before EMS arrives, including:

life-threatening bleeding control
wound packing
tourniquet use
shock recognition
penetrating trauma priorities
med kit evaluation

This training is not just for gunshot wounds. These skills can apply to car accidents, falls, sports injuries, workplace trauma, and other serious emergencies where immediate action matters.

If you carry a firearm, protect your family, serve on a church safety team, work in security, or simply want to be more capable when someone is badly hurt, this class is for you.

A med kit is only useful if it has the right gear for the problem in front of you, and you know how to use it.

Too many people carry equipment they have never trained with, or leave out the items that matter most when time is critical.

In Defensive Medicine 1, we talk through what makes sense, what does not, and what actually earns a place in your kit.

Students can also bring what they currently carry so we can discuss what they have, what they need, and what actually matters.

Not all bleeding is controlled the same way.

In Defensive Medicine 1, students practice the difference between direct pressure, wound packing, and when a tourniquet is the better answer.

This is hands-on training built for real emergencies, not theory.

You will work on:
• identifying life-threatening bleeding
• applying direct pressure with intent
• packing a wound to the source
• understanding when to use pressure, packing, or a tourniquet

Severe bleeding is time-critical.

If bleeding is heavy, continuous, or soaking through quickly, that is not the time to stand there and think about it.

A common failure point in trauma response is not recognizing how serious bleeding is soon enough.

That is why training matters.

This is one of the core priorities we work on in Defensive Medicine.

My next class is April 18 in Elk Grove.

One of the biggest mistakes in trauma response is doing the right intervention at the wrong time.

In a real emergency, knowing what matters first can make all the difference.

Training helps people recognize what kills first, what can wait, and what needs your immediate attention. That is how you act with purpose instead of panic.

My next Defensive Medicine 1 class is April 18 in Elk Grove. If you want practical, hands-on trauma training built for the critical minutes before EMS arrives, this class is for you.

Bring your med kit to class. Let's discuss what you carry, what you need, and what actually matters.

A lot of people carry gear they have never tested, never organized well, or do not fully understand.

This class is not just about what to buy. It is about what matters, how to use it, and how to think under pressure.

Defensive Medicine 1 is April 18 in Elk Grove.

CPR and first aid are important. They save lives.

Defensive Medicine and Stop the Bleed are used in different circumstances, but when they are needed, you absolutely need to know the skills.

Traumatic injury creates a different problem set in the critical minutes before EMS arrives. That is why this training focuses on priorities like:

• life-threatening bleeding
• wound packing and tourniquets
• penetrating trauma
• airway priorities
• shock recognition
• med kit evaluation

This is hands-on training built for the moments when basic knowledge is not enough and action matters fast.

My next Defensive Medicine 1 class is April 18 in Elk Grove.

Good training does more than give people information.

It gives them confidence, better priorities, and a plan.

That is the goal every time I teach.
