Untreated hearing loss causes brain function to decline 30 to 40% faster.
When the hearing nerves lose their function and no longer channel sound signals to the brain, the brain can temporarily lose the connection to those sounds.
A hearing test is an easy step in the right direction of better hearing, better health, and better connection.
Complete Hearing offers a free ONLINE screening to get you started.

Quality conversations begin with communication awareness. What you say, how you say it, and your body language significantly impacts what is heard.

Today's VISUAL tip about conversational awareness is, "I can't hear you if you mumble." Speak clearly, slowly, distinctly, and naturally. Avoid shouting or using exaggerated mouth movements. Try not to speak too rapidly or use sentences that are too complex. Get the person's attention before beginning the conversation. This gives the listener a chance to focus attention at the beginning of the conversation.

Quality conversations begin with communication awareness. What you say, how you say it, and your body language significantly impacts what is heard.

Today's VISUAL tip about conversational awareness is, "Speak one at a time." Take turns speaking and avoid interrupting other speakers. We should listen to understand, not to respond. Also, minimize extraneous noise when talking and turn off interruptions such as notifications or calls from your phone.

Quality conversations begin with communication awareness. What you say, how you say it, and your body language significantly impacts what is heard.

Today's VISUAL tip about conversational awareness is, "I can't hear you if you cover your mouth." It is best to keep your hands away from your face while talking. Be aware of your actions when you are eating, smoking, speaking, or singing with a microphone. Beards and mustaches can also interfere with a person's ability to understand what you are saying.
Over 55% of what we hear is what we see visually through lip reading. Keep your mouth visible.

Did you know cardiovascular disease is thought to cause hearing loss due to compromised blood flow to the inner ear?
Just as the heart depends on good blood flow in order to beat, your ears rely on a steady supply of blood to help you hear. The reduction in blood flow is likely due to microvascular changes of the internal auditory artery. In addition, occlusion of the right coronary artery can result in decreased blood supply and damage to the vagus nerve. This can lead to symptoms of ear fullness and referred pain in the ears. If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or high cholesterol, consider scheduling an appointment with one of our Doctors of Audiology today.

Hearing in public spaces can be challenging due to background noise, including traffic, music, or the mingling of several competing conversations and voices. Background noise makes it difficult to understand someone because it is louder than the voices you want to hear or distracts your attention from what people are saying. Filtering out the background noise in public spaces is difficult because it requires precise hearing from both ears.
