Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Mike Heili ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Mike Heili, our Optical Manager and Optician, also known around here as the Opti Guru and Ironman, at Capital Eye Care! 👓💪
Mike grew up in McCook, Nebraska and attended Kearney State College. His path into eye care began while working at The People’s City Mission, where he saw firsthand how donated glasses could change the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Wanting to continue making a meaningful impact, while doing something a bit lighter, he found his calling in eye care. Mike has worked in the field for 15 years and has been with Capital Eye Care since the very beginning.
As Optical Manager, Mike’s favorite part of his job is troubleshooting, whether it’s solving a complex glasses issue or helping a patient work through a challenging visual system. He can’t live without his wife, his kids, and enchiladas, and his music taste includes rock, especially AC/DC, with a little Eminem mixed in.
Outside of work, Mike lives up to his Ironman nickname. He competes in Ironman triathlons, trains endurance athletes, plays pool, and does motivational speaking. He’s also deeply interested in neuroscience, leadership, human behavior, and world religions. His favorite movie is A Beautiful Mind, and his favorite book is Tools of Titans. He’s a proud dog dad to Willow, a Yorkipoo, and recently traveled to Nashville.
Looking ahead, Mike’s big goal is to complete Ironman Omaha in June 2026. His favorite holiday is Christmas, for the family time and reflection. In 10 years, he sees himself still competing in Ironman events, loving his wife deeply, dancing in the kitchen, laughing often, and following his kids wherever life takes them.

Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Heather Harmon ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Heather Harmon, our amazing Contact Lens Specialist here at Capital Eye Care! 👓💜
Heather, also known as “H-Town”, grew up in Dannebrog, Nebraska and found her way into eye care after looking for a change of pace from working in Alzheimer’s hospice care. A friend suggested optometry, and she’s been in the field ever since. Heather has worked in eye care for 9 years and has been with Capital Eye Care since the very beginning.
As our Contact Lens Technician, Heather’s favorite part of her job is simply the people, both patients and coworkers. She can’t live without her family, music, and her bed, and her music taste truly spans everything, with “Stardust” by Lester Young holding a special place.
Outside of work, Heather has a deep love for the arts. She enjoys fine art (especially Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism), art conservation, reading, music, and long walks. She’s an avid reader who often reads multiple books at once, mostly non-fiction and romance, and admits she always checks the last page first. Her favorite book is Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards.
Heather is also a proud cat mom to Mia and Mojo. In the next year, she hopes to learn how to cook something really well (without starting a fire) and travel to visit loved ones. Fun facts: she once sang in Carnegie Hall and spent a summer living in Manchester, England after high school.
Looking ahead, Heather sees herself a little more grey, well-traveled, and hopefully a bit more calm. She describes her family as small but close, and cherishes the “peaceful chaos” when they’re all together.

Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Chelsea Beran ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Chelsea Beran, the friendly face at our front desk, and our unofficial Office DJ, here at Capital Eye Care! 🎶👓
Chelsea grew up in Wilber, Nebraska, proudly known as the Czech Capital of the USA. She attended Doane University and has worked in the eye care field for 9 years. Around the office, she’s also known by the nickname “Spills”, lovingly given by Dr. Reins after a coffee mishap that’s lived on for five years.
Chelsea’s favorite part of working at Capital Eye Care is her coworkers, and she says there’s truly never a dull moment with this crew. She can’t live without Diet Coke, Czech Days, and her golf cart, and her music taste stays true to her roots—polka music, with The Praha Polka as her favorite song.
Outside of work, Chelsea loves spending time with family and friends, reading, cruising in her golf cart, playing fetch with her dogs, and hanging out with her niece and nephews. She’s a big fan of psychological thrillers, especially books by Freida McFadden, and her favorite movies are The Green Mile and Semi-Pro.
Chelsea is also a proud pet mom to six pets—three dogs (Charlie, Barkley, and Olive May) and three rabbits (Calvin, George, and Vada Sultenfuss). Her favorite color is green, and in the next year she hopes to learn how to crochet and possibly take a photography class.
Her favorite holiday is Halloween, thanks to cherished family traditions started by her mom, spooky movies, and watching her niece and nephews enjoy trick-or-treating. Looking ahead, Chelsea hopes to be right where she is now… just with more pets! She’s been married for five years and loves spending time with her husband watching Husker sports, ghost hunting, going to the movies, and enjoying game nights with their competitive (and fun) family.

Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Melissa Peters ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Melissa, an essential part of our Billing Department here at Capital Eye Care! 💻👓
Melissa grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she studied Mathematics, a perfect fit for her role today. She first entered the eye care field as a part-time college student and has now built an impressive 22-year career in eye care. Melissa has been with Capital Eye Care for 1 year, keeping our billing operations running smoothly behind the scenes.
Her favorite part of working at Capital Eye Care is the great atmosphere, and she can’t live without her twin, coffee, and her kids. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys yard work and gardening, loves sci-fi movies and books, and recently checked off a major travel bucket-list destination with a trip to Egypt. Her favorite color is tangerine, and she’s hoping to travel somewhere new again within the next year. Her favorite holiday is Easter, because it means spring has arrived. Looking ahead, Melissa sees herself possibly heading toward early retirement—with a laugh, of course.

Most dry eye isn’t about how much you blink — it’s about how well you blink. 👀
Incomplete blinks lead to poor oil release from the eyelids, which means an unstable tear film and dry, irritated eyes.
OptiLIFT™ gently warms and massages the eyelids to improve blink quality, helping restore a healthier tear film and more comfortable vision.
Better blinks. Better tears. Better comfort.

She has now worked in the eye care field for 17 years and has been part of the Capital Eye Care team since we opened in April 2024.
As a CMA and clinic technician, Andrea plays a key role in patient care. Her favorite part of working at Capital Eye Care is the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, her great coworkers, and the opportunity to work directly with patients every day.

Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Anne Cashmere ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Anne Cashmere, one of our amazing Clinic Technicians here at Capital Eye Care! 👓💙
Anne, also known as Annie, grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from UNL in May 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. Her path into eye care is a meaningful one. Anne was introduced to optometry through an optometrist at her horse barn, who noticed a blind spot in her horse’s vision and explained how he could only see shadows. That moment completely changed how Anne handled and cared for her horse, Bravo, and sparked a deep passion for optometry that led to her first job in the field.
Anne has worked in eye care for 5 years and has been with Capital Eye Care for about 1.5 years, starting just a few months after we opened. Her favorite part of working here is seeing how improved vision can truly change patients’ lives, learning about new eye conditions and disease prevention, and working alongside a team known for their positivity and strong work ethic. She also helps run our social media, and creating the fun REELs has been one of her favorite creative outlets.
Outside of work, Anne spends much of her time with her horse Bravo, who is turning 23 this year. While they previously competed in dressage and jumping, she now enjoys calm rides and quality time as he approaches a well-earned retirement. She also loves traveling, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the world. Anne is also a pet mom to her kitten Ben.
This past year, Anne traveled to Africa on an optometry mission trip, working alongside doctors to provide eye care throughout western Kenya, and she’s heading back again in just a couple of weeks. She’s also traveled to Arizona, Tennessee, Cancun, the Ozarks, Colorado, and Florida.
Looking ahead, Anne hopes to continue traveling, further excel in optometry, and pursue continued education and research.
