February 4th is "National Thank a Mail Carrier" Day. We took a moment today to honor our Salt Creek Mail Carrier, Angie!

She received a ginormous letter with a card inside...which had notes and signatures from Residents and Team Members thanking her for all her hard and and for visiting us each day.

One of the Residents even wrote her a special poem...

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue,
The mail in our boxes is special,
And so are YOU!
(Please burn all our letters with windows that look like bills. 😊 )

Angie laughed, because we know she will deliver ALL our mail, even the bills, perfectly! But we thought that part of the poem was a great joke!

Thanks to all our letter carriers for their hard work in delivering mail regardless of weather conditions.

We wanted to post just one more photo as we wrap up National Activity Professionals Week.

THANK YOU to Kinley for creating and serving the most delicious mocktails to us each Friday afternoon. Yesterday, we enjoyed a chocolate delight she referenced as a "Brown Cow."

Top secret: next Friday, Kinley teased us that she is going to start a "pink drink" series and have that theme continue through February in honor of Valentine's Day.

Or perhaps she was inspired by the Pink Flamingo art we referenced in an earlier post?

We're not sure of the inspiration exactly, but we do know there are some more tasty drinks in our future. Our weekly Mocktail Tasting is one of our favorite activities. THANK YOU, KINLEY!

It's easy to love spending a day at Salt Creek when you are surrounded by sweet hearts!

"That's a LOT of pink!"

This was one of the quotes we heard last night when Salt Creek Residents enjoyed a whimsical art show featuring Pink Flamingos.

Yes. As Valentine's Day gets closer, there's a little more fresh flower arranging, pink art, trivia about hearts and pink soap prizes at Bingo.

Turns out...a LOT of pink means A LOT of FUN! And a lot of laughter, too.

A friendly game of Pinochle was enjoyed this afternoon in the Salt Creek Sunroom!

Warm smiles in a room full of sunshine always seems to help keep cold weather a little bit further away.

Cold weather is coming tomorrow, so we made the most of our Thursday! Some Residents were excited to have a quick trip to HyVee to complete some of their favorite weekly purchases. Other Residents embarked on a breakfast outing to Cracker Barrel and slipped in some shopping there, too.

Others enjoyed a lovely social hour...complete with hot onion rings, dipped in fancy sauces. Yummy!

Finally, to keep us energized despite what the weather forecast is predicting, we delighted in some flower arranging. Our tables are now properly brightened with fresh and colorful blooms.

What do we enjoy on cold Wednesday afternoons at Salt Creek? Well, one thing we love is playing games with friends in our warm and toasty gathering spaces!

Today, players tried their luck at Yahtzee...the game is still ongoing as we give you this update, so we can't congratulate a winner just yet.

Interestingly, here is some trivia about Yahtzee: our research indicates that a Canadian couple invented the game in the 1950s, playing it on their yacht, calling it "The Yacht Game." So, "Yahtzee" is the game name that evolved from that original game reference.

Yesterday afternoon, Salt Creek enjoyed three special canine volunteers who shared some snuggles and soulful gazes with us.

It was also National Popcorn Day...and we even got an adorable photo of River trying to help us celebrate!

What a blessing that it's often toasty and full of love in the Salt Creek Fireplace Lobby. After careful observation, we've confirmed that snuggles and warm, buttery popcorn are an excellent combination on a cold January evening.

Thanks, River, for reminding us about that fact!

Happy Sunday to you!

There will be wonderful live piano music in the Piano Foyer today at 1pm.

And also, today begins our "Learn about Interesting People" series in our Meadowlark Neighborhood. Today's selected person is Dolly Parton. Dolly has a special birthday tomorrow, so we are learning about her and reading books together in honor of her fantastic Imagination Library philanthropy. We are also creating a butterfly collage as we talk about her amazing contributions. Check out the beginning canvas in the picture below and look for an update to the creative piece later this week!

Thank you to Chris Sayre for dazzling our Salt Creek Community Residents today with incredible music and laughter!

What a fabulous talent to have right here in Lincoln...but, of course, we are always especially awestruck by his musical expertise with the saw as an instrument! Fantastic show! Please know we are so grateful to you, Chris!
