January marks the final round of interviews for our 2026 MATCH applicants, and we’ve been truly impressed by the talented medical students interested in completing their family medicine residency here in Lincoln. It’s been a pleasure meeting each candidate in person—sharing our campus, introducing them to our hospital partners, and giving them a glimpse of everything Lincoln has to offer.

As we move into the last phase of the MATCH process, we’re excited to learn which students will soon call Lincoln home for their residency training.

After more than 26 years of dedication to family medicine, we are celebrating the retirement of Dr. Eddie Pierce, a valued faculty member of the Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program. Our residents have greatly benefited from his depth of experience, generosity in teaching, and commitment to passing on essential skills in both patient care and clinical practice. Our program uniquely offers residents the opportunity to experience what practicing family medicine is like in a rural setting. Our second- and third-year residents care for hospitalized patients, provide emergency room care, and so much more for four weeks. Our residents gain valuable insight from local providers, setting them up for success when they start their own practice.

Over the next few months, some of our residents will offer thoughts about what they are doing during their rural rotations. We can't wait to learn more from them!
