The definition of a medical home is the coordination of care from care plans to appointments with specialists. The patient receives consistent care from birth through old age. The medical home serves as a guide to community support services from education to transportation.

Across the state, Nebraska will enforce work requirements for most Medicaid program members starting May 1. These work requirements apply to able-bodied adults ages 19 to 64 in the Medicaid expansion program (also known as Heritage Health). For those who lost their Medicaid because they do not meet the exemption—or did not complete the work requirement—we offer our Sliding Fee discount program.

If you have questions about the sliding fee discount program or Medicaid, get in touch with our Outreach team at 402-476-1455.

Dayne Thomas, a former Bluestem Health dental assistant, recently stopped by to share that he will be moving to Washington, D.C., to complete his residency.

“My experience here has taught me the importance of teamwork in ensuring a dental clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. It also continues to reinforce the value of providing high-quality healthcare to all people in the community," he said. "Having my extramural rotation at Bluestem Health gave me the chance to step outside the familiar environment at UNMC and experience a different clinical model and workflow. That experience has been valuable in helping me better understand how I want to practice in the future."

Congratulations, Dayne! We’re excited for you and wish you all the best in Washington, D.C.

A special thanks to our primary sponsor, UnitedHealthcare, who helped make our Spring Baby Shower extra special. Thanks to all the vendors who came out, and all the MCO partnering with us includes NTC, Molin, and UHC to make the event happen.
