Bluestem Health is a resource for the entire community for medical, dental and behavioral health serv

Bluestem Health is a federally qualified health center (FQHC), which is a federal designation from the Bureau of Primary Health Care. FQHCs are either located in, or serve, a federally designated medically underserved area/population. All FQHCs must operate under a consumer Board of Directors governance structure, and provide comprehensive primary health care, dental, and mental health/substance abuse services to persons in all stages of the life cycle. FQHCs provide their services to all persons according to their ability to pay. There are over 1,400 Community Health Centers across the country that provide vital primary care to over 18 million Americans with limited financial resources. In 2019, Bluestem Health saw nearly 20,000 individual patients and serves as a “medical home” to its patients. The definition of a medical home is the coordination of care from care plans to appointments with specialists. The patient receives consistent care from birth through old age. The medical home serves as a guide to community support services from education to transportation.

Say hello to Mariah Poore, our newest Registered Dietitian and Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist. She helps our patients manage chronic conditions like prediabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, IBS, and celiac disease at our Pediatric Clinic at Health 360.

Mariah's approach focuses on helping patients understand their hunger and fullness cues while removing stigma from conversations about weight. “I want patients to feel supported and understood,” she says. "Our team helps Bluestem Health patients at no cost, and small changes can make a meaningful difference.”

Mariah works alongside our providers, nurses, and behavioral health team to coordinate care, and she enjoys making nutrition support accessible to all ages.

Mariah enjoys time with her husband and young son. She spends her free hours baking, taking walks, and reading whenever she can.

Hosted at our Pediatric Clinic at Health 360 (23rd and O Street), from 12:00-1:30 PM, this family-friendly event is a fun way for new and expecting moms to learn about support options from community vendors and managed care organizations.

We'll also have snacks, games, prizes, and a raffle to close out the afternoon with a little excitement.

Our emergency dental clinic starts back up on Thursday, March 19.

Brad Meyer, our CEO, was on Capitol Hill for the National Association of Community Health Centers’ Policy & Issues Forum.

Brad met with senators and members of Congress alongside fellow healthcare leaders. These meetings are essential to strengthen support for community health centers and the nearly 52 million patients they serve—about 1 in 7 Americans.
