Debbie has been a dedicated blood and platelet donor for more than 35 years, beginning with her first donation in 1989. Her journey started with her grandmother, who developed late-onset leukemia and worried about taking blood from others who might need it more. Inspired by her grandmother’s selflessness, Debbie began donating in her honor to help ensure all patients could continue receiving lifesaving care.

“I realized I could give a little of myself to help someone else,” Debbie says. “It was my way of making sure my grandmother didn’t feel like a burden and that people who needed blood could still have it.”

Over the years, Debbie expanded her giving to platelets and has now donated more than 150 times, that's over 18 gallons of lifesaving blood products.

“When I donate, it’s two hours where I can do something purely for someone else,” she shares. “It reminds me how fortunate I am to be healthy enough to give. I feel lucky every time I donate.”

This , Debbie's dedication proves that just one woman can touch hundreds of lives.❤️

The luck of the Irish might be on your side! 🍀 In 2022, the FDA lifted many Mad Cow Disease (vCJD) travel restrictions, meaning people who spent time in Ireland, France, or the United Kingdom between 1980–2001 may now be eligible to donate blood.

If you’ve been waiting for your chance to give, this might be it. Check your eligibility and help save lives. Wishing you all a happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our first-ever blood drive with the Omaha Fire and Police Academy!

This partnership is especially meaningful as the Omaha Fire Department now carries blood on their trucks, allowing first responders to perform lifesaving transfusions in the field. The blood donated by community members will go on to save lives both at the scene of emergencies and in hospitals.

Thank you to the Omaha Fire Department, the Omaha Public Safety Training Center, and all the donors who helped make this first drive such a success. Your support helps ensure lifesaving blood is available when and where it’s needed most.

This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to recognize the incredible impact women have on the lifesaving mission of blood donation.

Did you know that nearly 55% of blood donors in the United States are female? Every day, women across our communities roll up their sleeves to help ensure hospitals have the blood they need for patients facing surgery, cancer treatments, trauma, and more.

Whether they’re donating themselves, encouraging friends and family to give, or volunteering at blood drives, women play a vital role in keeping the blood supply strong.

To all the women who give their time, compassion, and blood to help others, thank you for being lifesavers. ❤️

Every day, patients rely on the generosity of blood donors. From trauma victims and cancer patients to those undergoing surgery or managing chronic illnesses, blood donations help save and sustain lives in countless ways.

The need for blood never stops, but it can only be met when people in our community choose to roll up their sleeves and donate. One donation can help up to three patients and give families more time with the people they love.

If you’re eligible, consider making an appointment to donate. It’s a simple act that has a powerful impact.

❤️ The future of saving lives looks bright.

Moments like this remind us why blood donation matters, not just today, but for generations to come. Every donor who rolls up their sleeve helps ensure that when this young lifesaver grows up, a strong and reliable blood supply will be there for her, her friends, and her community.

The next generation is being inspired by the compassion they see around them. Together, we’re building a future filled with lifesavers.
