Meet Cassidy Daly, a freshman biology teacher at Crete High School who has been leading the school’s blood drives since 2022. As the sponsor of Future Scientists of America, Cassidy saw organizing blood drives as “an incredible opportunity to make a real impact” in her community, and she’s done just that!
"During my senior year, my Nana relied on frequent blood transfusions just to stay alive… because of blood donors, I got two more precious years with her. I want to help give that same gift to others."
Cassidy’s students have embraced that mission. Each drive brings in 25+ first-time donors, eager to step up and make a difference. As she puts it, “Young people are healthy and can make a real impact… while learning responsibility, empathy, and the power of giving back.”
And the impact is real. This semester, Crete High School collected an incredible 94 units of blood, a personal best!
"We’re not just hitting numbers, we’re saving lives and making a real difference in our community."
Cassidy’s message to others? "Do it! Leading a blood drive is fun and incredibly rewarding… and the Nebraska Community Blood Bank team makes it easy every step of the way."
Thank you, Cassidy, and all the students and donors at Crete High School for helping save lives and showing what community truly looks like. 💪🩸
