Debbie has been a dedicated blood and platelet donor for more than 35 years, beginning with her first donation in 1989. Her journey started with her grandmother, who developed late-onset leukemia and worried about taking blood from others who might need it more. Inspired by her grandmother’s selflessness, Debbie began donating in her honor to help ensure all patients could continue receiving lifesaving care.
“I realized I could give a little of myself to help someone else,” Debbie says. “It was my way of making sure my grandmother didn’t feel like a burden and that people who needed blood could still have it.”
Over the years, Debbie expanded her giving to platelets and has now donated more than 150 times, that's over 18 gallons of lifesaving blood products.
“When I donate, it’s two hours where I can do something purely for someone else,” she shares. “It reminds me how fortunate I am to be healthy enough to give. I feel lucky every time I donate.”
This , Debbie's dedication proves that just one woman can touch hundreds of lives.❤️
