Meet Cassidy Daly, a freshman biology teacher at Crete High School who has been leading the school’s blood drives since 2022. As the sponsor of Future Scientists of America, Cassidy saw organizing blood drives as “an incredible opportunity to make a real impact” in her community, and she’s done just that!

"During my senior year, my Nana relied on frequent blood transfusions just to stay alive… because of blood donors, I got two more precious years with her. I want to help give that same gift to others."

Cassidy’s students have embraced that mission. Each drive brings in 25+ first-time donors, eager to step up and make a difference. As she puts it, “Young people are healthy and can make a real impact… while learning responsibility, empathy, and the power of giving back.”

And the impact is real. This semester, Crete High School collected an incredible 94 units of blood, a personal best!

"We’re not just hitting numbers, we’re saving lives and making a real difference in our community."

Cassidy’s message to others? "Do it! Leading a blood drive is fun and incredibly rewarding… and the Nebraska Community Blood Bank team makes it easy every step of the way."

Thank you, Cassidy, and all the students and donors at Crete High School for helping save lives and showing what community truly looks like. 💪🩸

We’re offering a $15 e-gift card to all platelet donors who come in to give between April 3 and April 6!

Platelets are critical for patients undergoing cancer treatment and surgery, and they have a very short shelf life, so your donation is needed now more than ever. If you’re eligible, now is the time to step up. Make a lifesaving impact this week, and receive a little something extra as our thank-you. Registration required.

One by one. Bag after bag. “Thank you, donor.” Emily whispered those words after each of her 23 lifesaving transfusions.

Today, Emily celebrates March 31st as her “Alive Day” and as a longtime donor herself, that experience only deepened her commitment, because she knows what it means when time is running out.

Help shape someone’s tomorrow. Donate today. https://bit.ly/3PA1lQy

🚨🩸 Right now, we need O- and O+ donors to step up. These blood types are critical for everyday patient care, and in emergencies when every second counts.

Our O- inventory is at a critical level, with less than a 3-day supply remaining. O+ is also in constant demand, as it can help the majority of patients and is one of the most commonly used blood types in hospitals.

If you're type O, your donation can make an immediate, lifesaving difference. Don’t wait, schedule your appointment today: https://bit.ly/3PA1lQy

From emergency situations to ongoing medical treatments, patients rely on donated blood to survive and heal. There’s no substitute for blood and it can’t be manufactured, only generous donors can provide it.

Are you ready to join the team? Roll up your sleeve and make an impact!

Longtime donor MaryEllen brought her daughter, Stephanie, and her grandson, James, to her most recent donation. Even more exciting, James made his very first donation and officially joined the lifesaver club! 🎉

This is proof that giving back runs in the family, and that some of the best things really do come in threes.

Every day, patients rely on lifesaving blood transfusions, and the need never takes a break. That’s why it’s so important for young people to step up and donate. By starting early, they’re not just helping today’s patients, they’re building a lifelong habit of giving back.

High school and college donors play a critical role in keeping our blood supply strong, especially during times when donations tend to drop.
