Most people think pharmacies make money on prescriptions.
Here’s and analogy:
Imagine being offered a job where some months you’re paid… and some months you have to pay your employer.
Would you accept that? Of course, not.
However, that’s what’s happening to independent pharmacies.
We don’t set drug prices. PBMs (pharmacy benefit managers) (our "employer"), decide what we’re paid. Often, that payment is less than what we paid to buy the medication.
That means we lose money just for serving our patients.
No business can survive long selling products below cost.
We’re not asking for more than anyone else.
We’re asking for a fair system — one where pharmacies aren’t forced to dip into savings just to keep the doors open.
Because when local pharmacies close, communities lose access to care.
It’s time for transparency. It’s time for fairness.
