Did you know the average American takes 3,000 to 4,000 steps daily – approximately 1.5-2 miles?
While many organizations suggest taking 10,000 steps a day, the idea first emerged as a marketing tactic by a Japanese company in 1965 and wasn’t backed by science. Although it’s a good goal to aim for, and research now suggests that the more steps we take each day, the better it is for our well-being, no magic number works for everyone as certain factors such as age, health, or physical ability play a role.
