Rowan Community Health Center-RCHC

Rowan-Virtua CHC is a free clinic staffed by medical students and physician volunteers.

Founded in 2003, the Camden Saturday Health Clinic was the innovation of Chris Lawler. While Chris was a medical student at then the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM now RowanSOM), he recognized a need for medical care in the nearby city of Camden, New Jersey. With the help of fellow students and the RowanSOM Family Medicine Department, space was secured in downtown Camden for a clinic. Funded entirely by student efforts and donations and staffed by medical student volunteers, the clinic has settled in as part of the Camden community over the past few years.

The Rowan-Virtua Community Health Center will be staffed with volunteer physicians and medical students from Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine to provide a wide array of medical care, such as physical exams, eye exams, referrals to specialists, and more! We will be open Saturdays from 9am-12pm on February 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept 30th for the second annual a community Health Field Day. Rowan Virtua Community Health Clinic will be offering FREE health screenings and a variety of other health resources for the community. There will be other organizations from the county as well. In addition there will be fun games, live music, and food trucks!

The Rowan Community Health Center will be open again for this Fall! The times will be 9am-12pm on 9/16, 10/28, 11/4, and 12/16. Today our clinic volunteers came out to support the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council’s (IHOC’s) 17th Annual Mall Walk for the Homeless. The money raised will help our local area’s homeless men, women, and children!

We had a table set up to check anyone’s blood pressures as well as face paint and t-shirt paint. So proud to be a part of this great event!

This Sunday, come join us at Voorhees Town Center in support of the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council’s (IHOC’s) 17th Annual Mall Walk for the Homeless. Money raised will help our local area’s homeless men, women, and children. What better way to help our community than spending time with all the walkers, face painting, and passing out goodie bags!

Our clinic volunteers will be at the event from 12:30 PM to 4 PM. We will have a table set up to check anyone’s blood pressures as well as face paint and t-shirt paint. We cannot wait to meet everyone and have a wonderful time!

For over a decade, the Rowan community clinic proudly served the residents and families of Camden.

The clinic recently relocated to Lindenwold, NJ where it will re-open its doors in September 2018. Funded entirely by student efforts and donations and staffed by medical student volunteers, the clinic’s main goal is to ensure accessibility to high quality health care in underserved areas and promote healthy living.
