Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose vision of unity and equality reminds us of our shared humanity. In this moment when suffering touches so many lives, we remember his wisdom.

The Buddha taught that all beings share the condition of suffering. Dr. King showed us that recognizing this truth calls us not to passivity but to compassionate action. The path of awakening includes the work of justice. The cultivation of compassion includes speaking truth to power.

May we honor his legacy by tending the fire of awareness, by meeting suffering with both tenderness and resolve, and by recognizing and protecting our shared humanity. Bodhisattvas like Dr. King step forward to aid all beings, and we are called to embody Tara's compassionate wisdom through engaged presence and radical compassion.

May our practice deepen our commitment to equality, dignity, and liberation for all beings.

CANCER FULL MOON: JANUARY 3

"The Full Moon is occurring in Cancer at 13 degrees on January 3 at 5:03 AM ET. The Cancer Full Moon is connected heavily with nurturing. It is asking us if we are being nurtured in our lives? Are we the ones doing all the supporting? Are we giving too much or too little? Are others? Are we needing to be the ones to do it all or are being expected to look after everyone and everything? Cancer is bringing a lot of deep feelings into the light, and it can be difficult at times but something that we need to look at.

We are reminded during this Full Moon to stop focusing on what doesn’t support us and move in the direction of what does. Sacrificing ourselves for others all the time isn’t the way to build a life that we are happy with.

Security can be a focus as we look towards feeling safe in our own world. This can mean a time of focusing on creating a sanctuary or sacred space in our own surroundings as well. This can be a powerful time for seeding ideas and plans for the future into the Universe, so take some time to focus on what you are wanting to create.
