Dr. Fred Coville, born in Brooklyn, New York, accelerated through school to begin his university studies at the age of sixteen. Upon receiving his Bachelors degree in biology, he went on to complete medical school before his twenty-fifth birthday. Working his way through medical school and residency, he pursued his first love − which has always been surgery. Dr. Coville feels privileged to have studied under some of the most prestigious names in plastic surgery. From Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, the famous father of cosmetic surgery in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Dr. Fernando Ortiz-Monasterio, the master craniofacial surgeon, scholar, and true Renaissance man in Mexico City − Dr. Coville has learned from some of the best. He spent his post-doctoral training years in New York, which included a Surgical Residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, a Burn Fellowship at Nassau County Medial Center, and finally his Plastic Surgery Residency at the prestigious Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. While at Mount Sinai, Dr. Coville became Chief Resident of the Division of Plastic Surgery and an Associate of the Department of Surgery. After completing his specialist training, he spent several years in private practice in New Jersey and took some time to practice Family Medicine in order to broaden his knowledge base and improve his overall skills as a physician. In 1997, Dr. Coville was invited to be the Associate Director and Plastic Surgeon at the exclusive and private Bougainvillea Clinic for Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery located in the British Virgin Islands. Caring for both elite clientele from around the globe seeking excellent cosmetic surgery in an exotic setting − as well as serving the eastern Caribbean for medical and reconstructive surgical needs − Dr. Coville became an influential and respected member of the BVI community. In addition to being one of the founders, and the elected President of the BVI Cancer Society, he was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Medical and Dental Association. He is a Past-President of the BVI Chamber of Commerce & Hotel Association and developed a great deal of expertise in the hotel and spa industry. This proficiency has allowed him to serve as consultant in the creation of several destination spas in the region. For many years, Dr. Fred Coville has been an organizer and faculty member of the influential Annual BVI Workshop in Plastic Surgery. This long-standing conference attracts aesthetic and reconstructive surgeons from all over the world to share the latest advances and techniques in the field. In addition to his surgical talent, he has acquired particular expertise in his use of combined techniques for facial and skin rejuvenation. Dr. Coville pioneered the “combined approach” to skin rejuvenation years before it became the standard of care for contemporary cosmetic doctors. It is through these innovative uses of mechanical, chemical, light, prescription creams, and injectable therapies, with or without surgery, that Dr. Coville is able to achieve spectacular and natural results in his patients of all skin types. In this particular area, treating patients of divergent skin types, Dr. Coville is considered one of the premier physicians in the field. He has presented his techniques internationally and by invitation, to professional colleagues and the general public all over the world. Known as “Dr. Fred” to his patients, he is a capable, affable, and genial man who has a particular talent for making difficult and complex topics easy to understand. While living in London most recently, Dr. Coville consulted for the healthcare and aesthetic industry. He has now returned to the U.S. to offer his experience here on the Southern New Jersey Shore. Dr. Fred brings with him, all of his years of expertise, his ability as a surgeon, his love and interest in total health, the techniques he has learned from around the globe, and offers them to his patients here. He firmly believes that “Foundational Health creates Foundational Beauty,” and abides by that principle when treating his patients. Dr. Coville is a member of many professional medical societies and is respected by both his peers and patients alike. Dr. Fred is a lively and interactive presenter who continues to lecture here in the U.S. as well as all over Europe, Russia, and Asia. Because of his broad base of information and informal style, he is frequently asked to speak and offer his expertise as consultant on topics of aesthetic medicine and surgery. He injects humor and honesty to his talks and is committed to demystifying the worlds of medicine, surgery, and aesthetics for the consumer. Dr. Frederick Coville has many interests outside of medicine. He is an entrepreneur, avid traveler, speaks fluent Spanish, dabbles as a percussionist, and is an aspiring novelist. However, Dr. Fred considers his greatest work and his true calling to be that of a father to his two young sons and as a husband to his wife.
