Today’s Election Day in the greatest country in the world. For a long time, I didn’t vote 🗳️ because I didn’t feel strongly about the candidates but what I realized is we need to take advantage of living in a democracy. Doing more lobbying on the state level makes me realize how important everybody’s vote is no matter which person you choose. We should be blessed to live in a democracy where we can choose the best candidate we believe in. I just hope one day we’re not as divided as we’ve become. Get out and vote y’all!

Last night, we were a sponsor for a nonprofit event for an old friend. We Make Autism at Work is a nonprofit that provides those with Autism employment opportunities through the partnerships they established. This event was to celebrate their 4th location, a partnership with a farm to table restaurant called Brick Farm Tavern that just started a month ago. The event included a 4 course menu that was prepared and cooked by the autistic men and women that have been working there for the last month. Grateful I’ve grown my business enough to be able to donate to amazing nonprofits like these.

This morning Willa was asked to be the usher for the collection at church. I grew up catholic and felt it created a foundation for me to better navigate stressful times. A month ago, I started taking Willa, and sometimes Rhett, to church. I want to share the faith that helped me grow into the person I am today. Do I think Catholicism is perfect? Definitely not but I do believe faith is important.

Several longitudinal and meta-analyses have found that frequent attendance at religious services is associated with lower risk of mortality (death), reduced incidence of depression, fewer suicidal behaviors and less substance use. I’ve always prayed, especially since my brother passed 10 years ago but I only started attending mass this year with my kids.

Boneset aka Eupatorium. Walking the dogs today, I saw a bee 🐝 on this beautiful flower. Last year, Dr. Hinchey taught me about its ability to inhibit NF-kB, IL-1B and TNF-alpha as an approach to managing the inflammation aspect of support patenting with Lyme Disease.

Last night, I organized our first high school reunion. It’s been 20 years and many of the people that came I haven’t seen since high school. It was a nice laid back environment and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Socializing seems to benefit health significantly. Not just for mental health but also for physical and cognitive health. Evidence is pretty strong regarding socialization and reducing risk of chronic diseases, improving mental health, improved quality of life and lower risk of all cause mortality (death from all causes). Be sure to implement socialization in your life even if it can make you uncomfortable at times.

Today is our town’s annual blueberry festival. The kids and I ran to our favorite local blueberry 🫐 farm and picked up 24 pints. These weeks, when blueberries are in season, we go through about 2 pints a day.

Blueberries, like some other fruits and vegetables, are rich with anthocyanins. Not only does this contribute to the color or pigment of foods but it appears to also be an important component of their health benefits. Moderate consumption, 1 cup per day, are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, death, type 2 diabetes, brain protection, weight management and also to potentially improve the gut microbiome.

The Red White and Blueberry Festival is almost 40 years running. If you’re ever in town the last Sunday of June, come support our local businesses!

Best of the Jersey Shore 2025 2nd 🥈 place for Alternative Medicine. 3rd time we’ve won in our 4th year in business. First time we’ve got 2nd. Blessed to have had support from my family (especially my wife ), my business partner Glenn, and our success after opening November 2020 during the pandemic. Couldn’t do this without the support of our patients as well to allow me the opportunity to do something I love, giving patients options for how they want to support themselves.

It appears we missed out on getting an ND resident this year due to minimal desire for current license eligible NDs candidates to work in New Jersey. Hopefully we’ll find a good fit next year so we can shorten our current 11 month waitlist for new patients.

The last few weeks have been a challenge as a family with my wife being in the hospital for a week for a major surgery. We’ve had endless support from friends, neighbors, school friends’ families and family to get us dinner these last 3 weeks and it’s been amazing. We’re so blessed to have such supportive people in our lives.

There have been several studies that have found friendships and social support to benefit wound healing. This is believed to be from reduced stress induced activation of the HPA axis.

Case study, 64 y/o F with osteoporosis. She presented as a patient two years ago with a goal of supporting her osteoporosis without traditional medications or hormones. We recently got her follow up bone density scan (DEXA) after 2 years (because insurance only covers this imaging every 2 years) and things are improving with a bone density specific supplement containing Vitamins D3, K2 and boron. Her bone density in her lumbar spine has improved 4.5% and her left total hip has almost reversed back to osteopenia.
-
-
-
We’ve had almost 2 dozen patients reverse their bone density (via pre and post DEXA) using this nutritional supplement alone, Osteoprime Forte. For the majority of our patients with osteoporosis or osteopenia, we recommend at least Vitamin D3 + K2, calcium supplementation up to 800mg daily and progesterone. We will also commonly recommend estradiol or what’s called Biest as well but many people either are not candidates (due to history of hormone sensitive cancers or Family hx of them) or have fear hormones will cause cancer. The beauty in what we do is that we can offer patients options that are complementary or alternative to the standard of care. I don’t can what people do; I just want to educate them on evidence based options.

Naturopathic doctors (NDs) follow a rigorous education path similar to MDs and DOs
(osteopathic doctors). They begin with a science-based bachelor’s degree and premed
coursework.🌿 Then they attend a 4-year accredited naturopathic medical school, completing over 4,100 hours of training.
-
-
-
Along with a standard medical curriculum, NDs receive specialized training in clinical
nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, physical medicine, and counseling. Hands-on
clinical experience prepares them to diagnose and treat patients as primary care providers.
-
-
-
After graduation, NDs must pass the NPLEX licensing exams.🌿 Currently, 26
jurisdictions (23 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin
Islands)offer licensure or certification for NDs.
Residency opportunities are expanding, with many NDs completing one to two-year
primary care or specialty programs. NDs have a pivotal role in advancing integrative
health care, working alongside all types of practitioners.

Another 5k in the books. 3rd one ever. Worst one yet, under 29 minutes though 😅 Didn’t prepare much due to injuring my knee a month ago. Last night my back was in so much pain I wasn’t sure how I’d fare today. Sometimes you can push through injuries. Fortunately I was able to push through. Good times. Can’t wait for baseball ⚾️ season to start. A few games already in the calendar 😁
