🚨 Urgent Heart Health Alert for the Indian Community! 🚨

A recent conference hosted by the Indian Consulate in Chicago highlighted the alarming epidemic of heart disease among Indians, who suffer heart attacks earlier and more severely than other global populations.

The Indian Paradox: Pioneering cardiologist Dr. Enas A. Enas explained that Indians face double the risk of heart disease—often developing attacks 10-15 years earlier—even with body weights and cholesterol levels considered normal by international standards. A major factor is the genetic cholesterol particle, Lipoprotein(a) or Lp(a), which is highly potent and elevated in about 25% of Indians.

The Good News: It's Preventable!
The message is clear: this is not an inescapable fate. The key to prevention is early action through:

Early Detection: Tools like the coronary artery calcium (CAC) "Heart Scan" can detect silent disease decades before an attack.

Lifestyle: Implementing the American Heart Association's "Life's Essential 8" framework.

Better Management: Aggressively controlling diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol.

New Resource: This call to action coincides with the upcoming release of Dr. Enas's comprehensive new book, Treatise on Heart Disease in Indians, which offers cutting-edge strategies for prevention and treatment.

Inspired by the true stories of real women impacted by heart disease, the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement and Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks created the short film, "Just a Little Heart Attack," to educate women about the realities of heart disease and encourage them to put their health first. The short film, directed by and starring Ms. Banks, chronicles one woman's experience ignoring her symptoms and putting herself last. Go Red For Women hopes the film, "Just a Little Heart Attack," will engage and inspire women to put their health first and take care of their heart.
