Recently I went for a run. I saw a neighbor on the other side of the street walking his dog. I waved and he shouted back, "How many are you doing?" I confidently yelled back, 8!" Minutes before, I was thinking, what about 7? Maybe 7 1/2. Do I have to do 8? What did I do after yelling 8? I completed all 8 miles. Why did I do all 8? Because someone else was counting on me, they knew my goal and what I had set out to accomplish. We need others in our lives to hold us accountable, if it's a goal for work, a project at home, or a relationship that needs improvement. State it out loud to someone else and hold yourself accountable.
