We got a head start on creating fun hats for our upcoming tea party as well as Easter. Our ladies decorated their hats in whatever design they wanted, then finished it off with colorful ribbon. Even our lone rooster in the henhouse joined in. He chose not to decorate his hat but he still looked great. Thank you, Doug , for being such a good sport. Everyone looked so pretty and not just due to the hats!

DJ Dave and Dallas brought the fun to Hacienda Del Rey with timeless classics, funky music and just a whole lot of fun. It's not just about the music, it's connecting with others dancing ,sharing a memory and a song to create a duet. We had some star performers along with creative dance moves.

It was duck hunting season here at Hacienda Del Rey. Setting rubber ducks up on cups, arming our group with Nerf guns and ammo, they took aim and had to shoot only the duck off of the cup. I would not want to be the duck since they took great care in aiming and hitting one. It was quack, aim, fire. With each aim and a hit, there were cheers. Some took great pride in making certain they had good aim. A huge thank you to Jenn Schildts, from Desert Valley Hospice, assisting with this activity.

A little fake ink and a lot of smiles.🙂
Today we brought some fun and an unexpected activity to our group with temporary tattoos. Even the shyest person got a bold tattoo . From flowers to rainbows, large and small, each person got to choose a design that made them smile. They were so happy to show them off. It's always so fun when such a small idea brings huge smiles. We just love seeing our residents smile.

Spring is in the air. Our group had a great time coloring wooden birdhouses donated to us by Desert Valley Hospice and Jenn Schildts. Using markers or colored pencils, each chose the colors to add their own personal touch and design of their own.

This is not Wisconsin but today we played Cheeseheads. Put on a shower cap, cover it with whipped cream, arm everyone with cheese balls, ready, aim, fire! The object of the game was to get as many cheese balls on your opponents head but the balls were tasting so much better. It was fun, messy and filling.

Kate Sawert, our go to person to help us understand dementia, came by today to hold a family support group. Discussing the change in roles, early signs of both dementia and Alzheimer's and self care for the care giver as well as family members. This is a difficult journey for both families and their loved one. Such a great group and families got to share what they are experiencing and how they handle it, helping others going through the same challenges not to feel alone. Thank you , Kate for always being such a compassionate and fun person to have within our community.

What a wonderful week we had. It started with tasty shakes, sitting on the patio, catching up with friends, playing games disguised as fun but really getting everyone moving. Our HDR family is the best and we have such a great time with laughs, dancing, singing and so much more.
