Self care is so important. Take a moment each day to pause for your own self care. MAke sure you let your kids know you are doing this, so they learn that they ned to talk care of themselves now, and that as an adult it is okay to take care of themselves. They learn more by what we DO than what we SAY.

What is direct primary care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is a healthcare payment model that allows patients to pay their primary care provider a monthly or annual fee in exchange for direct access to a range of primary care services. This model eliminates the need for insurance providers and health insurance claims, and patients don't pay copays or deductibles. DPC practices can offer enhanced services over traditional fee-for-service medicine, such as:
- Extended visits
- Home-based medical visits
- Real-time access to their physician via technology
- Coordinated care administration

DPC practices are motivated to keep patients healthy and happy, so they often have many open schedule slots, which can lead to same-day appointments and little to no wait times. They also aren't rewarded for unnecessary procedures, so they can give more time to each visit. For example, simple visits might be 30 minutes long, while new patients might receive 60 minutes or more.

While DPC practices don't accept insurance, most people who use DPC are also enrolled in a high-deductible health plan.

As parents, we often lose sight of our roles, and we forget what our kids are meant to do. Here’s the deal: Your job is to establish the rules, while your kid’s job is to experience their feelings. We can’t instruct them to not feel angry, sad, frustrated, or disappointed. Just as they can't come to us demanding a change in the rules. Simplifying this understanding can make parenting much easier.

Remember: Simplicity doesn’t always mean it’s easy!

Hear it: parents are not martyrs. We have needs, it is important for our kids to see that we have needs, it is important for us to meet our needs so we can be the best possible parents and can be in the best possible place to be the parents and partners we want to be. More importantly, our kids need to see us being human so they know it is OK for them to be human, they know it is OK for their partners to be human, as well as me perhaps one day their own kids, strangers on the streets, or anyone else they encounter.
