Everyone, please give a hoot and a holler for this week's employee spotlight, Lt. Connor Kriston. Connor will introduce himself in his own words!

I’m Connor.

I’ve been in EMS for about 10 years — 8 as an EMT and 2 as a Medic. I completed my EMT training at the former Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences and my Paramedic Training at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

I started my career as a volunteer EMT with the former Manheim Township Ambulance Association in 2016. I later worked as an Operations Manager for Ambulnz in Philadelphia. Upon returning to Lancaster County, I returned to Manheim Township as a Paramedic and was promoted to the rank of Captain.

I recently completed my EMS Instructor and CPR/First Aid Instructor certifications and enjoy teaching the new providers entering the EMS workforce. I became interested in initial EMS education after Paramedic school where I saw the passion and dedication my instructor brought to the classroom through her high standards and expectations that patient care will be done properly on every call. I also serve as a preceptor for AEMT and Paramedic Students.

My current position at Warwick EMS includes serving as a lieutenant overseeing daily shift operations, oversight of the Quality Improvement program, and assisting as an instructor within our education institute.

I’m well known around the station for my ability to “hoot and holler” as needed, sass, sarcasm, and disdain for driving.

We’re happy to have you Connor!

(PS, yes that is Adele)

This past weekend, we placed our new VOCSN ventilators into service. This was made possible through the efforts of our former Lieutenant, Corey Schlesinger, who was instrumental in their acquisition and early training.
We also want to give a huge shoutout to our very own Adam Marden, who, in addition to being a paramedic, is also a licensed Respiratory Therapist. Adam handled the training and skill sign-offs for all of our Paramedics and PHRNs.
This truly was a team effort and would not have been possible without Corey or Adam.
The VOCSN ventilators will allow us to provide better care to our intubated patients and also utilize BiPAP for patients suffering from severe respiratory distress. We look forward to using this new tool to better serve our community.

And… before anyone asks or comments, yes, we are aware the Hamilton is also a great ventilator, no need to remind us 😊

On April 1, thanks to Lt. Bri Mead, WCAA brought back our Employee of the Quarter award to recognize our outstanding team of providers.

The first honoree of this revived tradition was none other than Gabe Mitchell — our logistics guru and resident meme mastermind.

Gabe has been instrumental in helping organize and streamline our processes involving supplies, vehicles, and equipment here at Warwick. We’ll let Gabe introduce himself in his own words!

"I’ve been involved in EMS for about four years, including the past two with Warwick EMS. Throughout that time, I’ve developed a strong passion for serving the community and being part of emergency services. I take pride in being able to help people during difficult situations and working alongside a dedicated team.
Outside of EMS, I stay active as a volunteer firefighter in my home community, continuing my commitment to public safety. I enjoy staying busy, learning new skills, and contributing wherever I can to support those around me."

Thanks for all you do, Gabe. We appreciate you!

Happy Easter from all of us at Warwick Community Ambulance

Today is a reminder of renewal, hope, and the importance of community. While many are spending time with family and friends, our crews remain ready to serve, just as they do every day.

We are proud to be here when you need us, and grateful to be part of a community that continues to support what we do.

Wishing you a safe, peaceful, and happy Easter 🐣🚑

𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗘𝗠𝗦 - 𝗕𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀

Here's our monthly look at stats for March, 2026. We handled over 400 dispatched 911 incidents (excluding scheduled and emergency transports), with most calls in Warwick Township (143) and Lititz Borough (112). Manheim Township added another 60 calls, with the rest spread across Elizabeth, Clay, Penn, and surrounding areas.

Looking at call types, the most frequent were for a sick person (85), fall injury (82), breathing problem (45), unconscious person (27), chest pain (24), medical alarm (13), heart problem (12), and psychiatric or emotional calls (11).

Most transports went to Penn Medicine Lancaster General (101) and UPMC Lititz (83), with additional volume to WellSpan Ephrata (32) and smaller numbers to Penn State facilities. We transport patients to the hospitals that best meet their needs.

Despite all those calls, our primary area received mutual aid coverage only 4 times. That's less than 1%.

We review this data regularly and make adjustments based on what we are seeing. That includes changes to staffing and deployment so that units are in the right places at the right times. One example of that was adding an additional paramedic and moving Brickerville to 24/7 coverage. That change was based on call volume and system demand. It gives us greater coverage flexibility and adds another layer of paramedic response in an area with limited resources.

This is the approach we take. Look at the data, understand the demand, and adjust so we can continue to serve the community effectively while still supporting surrounding areas when needed.
