Learn more about Teffie below!
Q: Where do you live in PA and what do you do for work?
A: I live in Lancaster County, PA, and work at Landis Communities as the Director of Dementia-Friendly Experience. My role includes leading dementia education, supporting culture change, and building partnerships that strengthen dementia-friendly practices across our campus and the wider community. I spend much of my time teaching, coaching, and learning alongside others.
Q: Why did you decide to become a Dementia Friends Champion?
A: I decided to become a Dementia Friends Champion because of the people I meet every day individuals living with dementia, care partners, and neighbors who want to do the right thing but don’t always know how. This program offers a simple, accessible way to build understanding and empathy. I wanted to be part of that movement.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a Champion?
A: My favorite part is watching people’s perspectives shift. When someone moves from uncertainty or fear to confidence and curiosity, it’s powerful. Those small mindset changes ripple outward into more inclusive communities.
Q: What do you wish more people knew about dementia?
A: I wish more people knew that dementia does not erase a person’s identity, value, or ability to connect. Even as the brain changes, relationships, emotions, and meaning remain. How we respond matters more than getting things “right.”
Q: What are two fun facts about you?
A: I feel most grounded when I’m teaching about dementia or walking on the beach both help me slow down and reconnect. I love turning complex topics into language people can understand and feel. And I’m always up for a good cup of coffee paired with a thoughtful conversation.
