This Earth Day, we’re reminded that stewardship is more than caring for the environment. It’s caring for one another and the communities we call home. At Landis Communities, we seek ways to honor creation through responsible practices including restoring wetlands, incorporating alternative energy sources and greener building methods. Together, small acts of care can grow into lasting impact.

Happy Easter from Landis Communities!

Today, we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this season with residents, clients, and families, and for the sense of community that makes each day meaningful.

We also want to take a moment to thank the many team members who are working today, caring for and supporting those we serve. Your dedication and compassion do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply thankful for all that you do.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6

Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Easter.

CITY LIVING AT LPK

Appreciating a beautiful sunset from the rooftop of LPK is always something to look forward to.

For some of our residents, a regular visit up to the Terraza on a nice evening is a great way to wind down from a busy day.

Thanks to our neighbor Wendy for capturing the moment and sharing this photo.

Glad that Larry Guengerich, Director of Communications and Engagement, was able to share on a panel today at The Gathering in Indianapolis. The session brought together speakers from Methodist, UCC, and Anabaptist traditions to encourage collaboration with congregations who are considering re-visioning or repositioning their church property and buildings for ministry.

Members of the larger Lancaster community joined residents, clients, and team members from across Landis Communities to celebrate Brain Awareness Day on Monday, March 16. It was a welcoming, curiosity-filled day focused on learning about the brain, brain health, and how we can support one another as brains change. Highlights included a morning expo featuring community partners and resources, along with short seminars exploring dementia awareness, music and the brain, art, faith, dining, and even how building design impacts dementia. Teffie Landmann, director of dementia-friendly experience, is excited by how the day went and is looking forward to next year. “It was incredibly meaningful to see residents, team members, and the broader community come together with such openness and curiosity. Events like this remind us that building a dementia-friendly community truly takes all of us.”

These experiences, along with a focus on educating every team member across Landis Communities, are a big part of the launch of Lumina by Landis, the organization's Dementia-Friendly initiative. You can learn more at https://www.landiscommunities.org/lumina-by-landis/

Congratulations to Teffie! Thanks for all you are doing to help us serve clients, residents and their families so well.

We are excited to announce the Dementia Friends Champion of the month, Teffie Landmann! Thank you for your commitment to spreading the Five Key Messages!

Learn more about Teffie below!

Q: Where do you live in PA and what do you do for work?
A: I live in Lancaster County, PA, and work at Landis Communities as the Director of Dementia-Friendly Experience. My role includes leading dementia education, supporting culture change, and building partnerships that strengthen dementia-friendly practices across our campus and the wider community. I spend much of my time teaching, coaching, and learning alongside others.

Q: Why did you decide to become a Dementia Friends Champion?
A: I decided to become a Dementia Friends Champion because of the people I meet every day individuals living with dementia, care partners, and neighbors who want to do the right thing but don’t always know how. This program offers a simple, accessible way to build understanding and empathy. I wanted to be part of that movement.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a Champion?
A: My favorite part is watching people’s perspectives shift. When someone moves from uncertainty or fear to confidence and curiosity, it’s powerful. Those small mindset changes ripple outward into more inclusive communities.

Q: What do you wish more people knew about dementia?
A: I wish more people knew that dementia does not erase a person’s identity, value, or ability to connect. Even as the brain changes, relationships, emotions, and meaning remain. How we respond matters more than getting things “right.”

Q: What are two fun facts about you?
A: I feel most grounded when I’m teaching about dementia or walking on the beach both help me slow down and reconnect. I love turning complex topics into language people can understand and feel. And I’m always up for a good cup of coffee paired with a thoughtful conversation.

What a spectacular way to share!

In the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day, Jess Kistler, Director of Life Enrichment for Personal Care & Healthcare, organized the creation and collection o Valentine's for residents. She shares "We stopped counting Valentines when we reached 800 — and still had more to go! Valentines were created and donated by Landis Homes residents, Landis Adult Day Services, Cub Scout Pack 44, the Touch-a-Heart campaign from Blue Ridge Cable, as well as from countless team members and other friends. We truly want to say thank you to each and every person who helped create a Valentine! Every resident in Healthcare and Personal Care received at least 8 to 10 Valentines each!" Life Enrichment team members help to distribute the cards to residents.
