Aevidum

Aevidum We are empowering youth to have their friends' backs and creating cultures of care and advocacy in s Join the movement - spread the word!

Aevidum’s goal is to create cultures of “I’ve got your back” in schools and communities across the nation by forming Aevidum organizations. The Aevidum message is delivered creatively through a series of student-generated materials, interactive displays, high-energy assemblies, community events, music, artwork, stories, and PSAs, etc. Aevidum, which started in 2004 after a student died by suicide, earned SADD’s National Activity of the Year award in 2009, selected from more than 10,000 schools from across the nation. The organization has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Senate, Pennsylvania House, the nation’s top mental health experts, the mental health directors of New York and Ohio, and professors at the Penn State University, Florida State University, and the University of Maryland. In addition to appearing on TV, radio and in newspapers across Pa, Aevidum has appeared on Good Morning America. At the core of Aevidum is an educational philosophy that empowers students to take responsibility to make a difference. Aevidum students are encouraged to use their gifts and talents to succeed and to recognize the gifts and talents of their peers.

It’s Sleep Awareness Week 💤

Falling asleep with TikTok on ≠ quality sleep.

Blue light can delay melatonin and reduce REM sleep , the kind your brain really needs.

Tonight’s reminder: log off a little earlier. Your mind will thank you. 💛

We’re halfway through National Sleep Awareness Week. How’s your battery looking?

If you’ve been running on empty, this is your reminder that rest isn’t lazy, it’s necessary. Sleep helps regulate mood, focus, and stress levels, and your brain deserves that recharge.

There’s still time this week to reset your sleep routine. Start small. Even 30 extra minutes can make a difference. 💛

Normalize therapy.

We don’t feel embarrassed about seeing a doctor when we’re physically sick. We don’t “just tough it out” with a broken bone.

Mental health is health. Talking to a therapist is just another way of taking care of yourself. 💛

It’s National Sleep Week 💤

Sleep isn’t a luxury. It’s essential for your mental health.
It impacts your mood, focus, stress levels, and even your immune system.
Teens need 8–10 hours of sleep each night . Rest is not lazy, it’s necessary.

This week, give yourself permission to recharge. Your brain and body will thank you. 💛

You never know what someone might be carrying with them today.

Small moments of kindness can remind someone that they are not invisible and that they matter.

Today, be the reason someone feels seen. 💛

This February, 15 schools across Cambria County came together to empower young people to look out for one another, break the stigma around mental health, and create cultures of care in their schools.

We’re so grateful to Central Cambria High School for hosting and coordinating this important event, to Northwest Area High School's Aevidum Club for driving across the state to facilitate this workshop, and to all of the districts who attended the training. We're so proud of the students and educators who are making their schools safer and more supportive places every day.

Special thanks to WTAJ for their coverage of the event and for openly talking about mental health and su***de prevention.

When students lead the way, real change happens. Thanks for having our back. 💛

As we close out Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we want to leave you with this reminder:

You are more than a number.
You are more than your size.
You are more than your appearance.
You are more than what you ate today.
You are more than the thoughts that try to tell you otherwise.
You are more than enough, exactly as you are. 💛

At Aevidum, we believe every person has value that goes far beyond what can be seen on the outside. Thank you for learning, sharing, and helping us build a culture of compassion this week. Carry these affirmations with you and pass them on to someone who might need them.

The words we use about our bodies and other people’s bodies matter more than we realize.

Comments about weight, food, or “discipline” can sometimes reinforce shame or pressure that others may already be carrying. Even casual phrases can have a real impact.

This Eating Disorder Awareness Week, let’s shift toward language that is kind, neutral, and supportive.
✨ Compliment qualities beyond appearance
✨ Avoid labeling foods as “good” or “bad”
✨ Speak about your body with compassion

At Aevidum, we believe changing the conversation can help create safer spaces for everyone. Let’s choose words that support healing, not stigma.
