Roberta Ann Gross

A Funeral Service honoring the life of Roberta Ann Gross will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Emblom Brenny Funeral Home, in Little Falls, MN, at 2:00 PM, with Father David Maciej officiating; visitation will begin at 12:00 PM. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home immediately following the service, there will be no burial at this time.

Roberta “Birdy” Ann Gross, 68, of Lastrup, MN, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Pierz Villa, in Pierz, MN, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Little Falls, MN, on August 5, 1957, to loving parents Raymond and Marian (Brown) Seelen; Birdy was born one among eight children blessed to their union.

Birdy grew up on the family farm in Granite Township with her parents and siblings, where she attended the local school and graduated from Pierz Healy High School. After graduation, she attended a 2-year vocational school program after which she began working at the Morrison County courthouse, during that time she fell in love with Mark Gross, whom she’d known since they were children. The pair married on May 28, 1977, at St. John Nepomuk Church in Lastrup. Shortly after, the couple bought their house which they raised their two beautiful daughters in, Stacy and Sheila, turning that house into a home.

Birdy worked as a clerk for the City of Lastrup for many years while transitioning into a CNA, which she eventually retired from. Birdy was a caretaker by nature, and nurtured those around her. Just like her mother, she loved her children and raising them was one of the most important parts of her life. In fact, children were the light of Birdy’s entire world. She hosted countless Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Birthday parties for her children, grandchildren, and their friends. And the children certainly loved Birdy back for her kind, warm, and generous nature she radiated. You could even feel how much Birdy loved you through her food, no matter what the occasion, Birdy always ensured there was a menu, which was a way everyone in the family connected, and a way in which she always made sure everyone around her was taken care of.

Birdy loved watching game shows, going shopping—especially taking her family Christmas shopping with the “Barclay Card”—cooking and baking with her grandchildren, vacations, trips to Lake Superior, and simply spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and her grandpups, Duke and Ace. She leaves behind a depth of memories in the hearts of her family that they will cherish the rest of their lives.

Left to mourn Birdy’s passing are her Spouse, Mark Gross, of Lastrup; Daughters, Stacy (Jason) Anderson, of Bowlus, MN, and Sheila Wunner, of Hermantown, MN; six Grandchildren: Kaitlin, Shawn, Austin, Zach, Macey, and Mariah; Brother’s: Randy (Susie) Seelen, Greg (Ginny) Seelen, Don “Kirb” (Sue) Seelen; Sister’s: Pam (Rick) Skiba, Sherry (Jim) Pettey, Marilyn “Toots” (Dion) Okroi; as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marian Seelen, Brother, Ron Seelen.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Horizon Health Hospice, Birdy’s nurse, Josey, Pierz Villa, and the care team at Little Falls Care Center for the compassion and care they gave to Birdy.

May her beautiful Spirit live on through the precious memories that remain.

Willard Henry Doucette

Willard “Will” H. Doucette, age 94, died Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at Bridgeway assisted living in Little Falls, Minnesota. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16th, at Faith Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. The burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Born at home, in Ripley Township, Minnesota, Willard was the first child born to “Bill” and Mary (Marotte) Doucette. Willard paused his schooling at the eighth grade to work on the family farm and, due to family circumstances, to care for his younger siblings. At age 17, Will joined the National Guard. He later joined the Army and fought in Korea. Will was an Army Paratrooper and a sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged in 1953. The time Will spent serving in Korea, forever impacted his life.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; his wife Mary Ellen (Popilek) Doucette, and son, Bradley Doucette; his sisters Marlene (Doucette) Popilek, Jackie (Doucette) Argodale, and brother, William Doucette. Willard is survived by his daughter, Dee Ann R. (Donald) Block; grandson, Nathan (Jennifer) Block; granddaughter, Jenaleah Block and grandson, Daniel Block. Willard was thrilled to be a great-grandfather in 2025 with the birth of John Block, son of Nathan and Jennifer Block. Also surviving are Sue Doucette, widow of Bradley Doucette; Sue’s daughter Cyndi (Michael) and their son Jackson and Sue’s daughter Kelli. He also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.

Surviving siblings, sister, Colette (David-deceased) Caron of Minnesota; brother, Richard (Christine) Doucette of Colorado; sister, Falinda (Larrry) MacDonald of Minnesota; and sister, Gay (Robert-deceased) Wilkins of California.

Will was an avid reader constantly adding to his knowledge of world history, theology, and politics. He also enjoyed reading westerns and mysteries.

While in Korea, he received his high school diploma from the U.S. government. Will would smile and say, “all I had to do was serve in Korea to earn my high school diploma.” After Korea, Will continued his studies, becoming qualified to work in hydroelectric power plants, holding positions from electrician to foreman and superintendent. With his wife and children, Will lived in the states of Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Washington and, after his children were adults, Will and Mary Ellen, moved to Alaska where he worked until retiring back home in Minnesota.

Throughout his life faith remained important. After his marriage to Mary Ellen, wherever they lived, Will was an active member of the Lutheran Church. His gift for numbers meant he was often treasurer of the congregation.

Willard was a member of the VFW, American Legion, NRA, American Rifle Association, Good Sam’s Club, and Thousand Trails.

Besides being with family, Will enjoyed trap shooting and was a Washington state shooting champion. He loved ski diving, riding his motorcycle, downhill and cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, reading, card games, and most people. Doughnuts were always a welcome treat for Willard. He loved doughnuts; especially chocolate covered or sugar coated. He will be missed by many.

Michael Patrick Montroy

Michael Patrick Montroy, 66 year old resident of rural Pierz, suddenly and unexpectedly, passed away on February 26th, 2026, at the home he shared with his love, Bonnie. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on March 11th at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. A prayer service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Gregg Valentine officiating.

Michael was born June 22nd, 1959 in Twenty Nine Palms, California, to William and Shirley Montroy. Growing up, Mike attended numerous schools, while his father was in the military, although the place he called home was Alabama, earning him the nickname "Bama". Mike married Karen, together they had a son, Jason, and later divorced. Mike drove Semi for a living, in many different capacities, eventually owning his own "rig" which he took great pride in. Michael had a deep love for Music, Fishing, Duck Hunting, Deer Hunting, and Animals of all kinds (as a child he wanted to be a veterinarian). Michael was a member of several band, such as, "The Buzzards" and "Red Fever", playing all around the Twin Cities area, he played bass and vocals. Fishing was another of Michael's passions, whether in a boat or on the ice Mike was up for it. Then there were the animals, from his beloved dogs Charlie and Meg , his "old Girls", to his current "girls" Maisy and Lucy and his cat Teddy. Then there was "Old # Seven" the donkey, who Michael liked to call "his 800 pound dog". Then there was the occasional wild animal that needed saving, like the woodchuck with a can stuck on his head, that Mike had to rescue and then get a photo with. He truly loved animals.

In 2003 Mike was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. With a lot of support from friends and some family, he underwent intense treatments, and beat the cancer!

Michael met Bonnie at the drugstore in Onamia, where she worked, through a mutual friend they started dating in June of 2013 and have been together ever since and she will miss him dearly.

In late 2025 Michael experienced a heart attack and several strokes. After many hospital stays, tests and scans, doctors made the diagnosis, the cancer was back, this time stage 4 and although the diagnosis and prognosis were devastating, to he and Bonnie, Michael was determined to fight once again with Bonnie by his side to help him through it. Unfortunately, Michaels body was weakened by the cancer as well as his most recent medical events. Michael's wishes were that, even though tears will be shed, he wanted everyone to find happiness in memories and knowing he is in a better place.

Michael lived a life full of adventure and laughter, he will forever be remembered for his laugh, quirky sense of humor, his love of music and animals, playing guitar, and his many life stories.

Michael is survived and dearly missed by his "Queen" and love, Bonnie Dahl; Father, William Montroy; Siblings, Kathy (Scott) Byrkit, Diane, David; son Jason; Granddaughters and Grandson; his "Girls" Maisy and Lucy, cat Teddy, his faithful donkey, Seven (Bubba); Special Aunt Pat; Nieces & Nephews; Bonnie's children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Friends and extended Family.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Shirley; Nephew, Nicolas Patrick Glaza; Niece, Kristi Lynn Olson; Special Aunt, Dodi; his dogs, Meg and Charlie, Tipper his "skunk dog"; and his cats; Percy and Buggsy.

*Honorary Pallbearers: Brian Labeau, Todd Seemann, Steve Orttel, Myron Thorne, Marv Coughlin.

Doris B. WaldochDoris B. Waldoch, 88, passed away peacefully in her family’s home in St. Cloud on Monday, March 2, 2026....

Doris B. Waldoch

Doris B. Waldoch, 88, passed away peacefully in her family’s home in St. Cloud on Monday, March 2, 2026. She was born in Flint, Michigan, on April 30, 1937, to parents Ira and Winnie (Sours) McClain. A celebration of life is being held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Burial is being planned for Spring, at a later date, which will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, 1:00 PM, at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, in Little Falls, MN.

Doris B. Waldoch, 88, of Flint MI and Little Falls, MN, passed away on March 2, 2026, at her grandson’s house. She was surrounded by love and Murphy the puppy who did not leave her side the last three days.

Doris was born on April 30, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, to Ira and Winnie (Sours) McClain. She grew up in Flint and graduated from Mandeville High School. She was the youngest of five children, tucked into a two-bedroom house without modern plumbing. Her siblings were older, so she eventually claimed a room of her own. The home having only two bedrooms was one of many details she later shared with her great grandchildren, who listened in disbelief at how different life once was.

On July 23, 1955, she married Richard Waldoch at Holy Redeemer Church in Flint. Together they built a life side by side, raising their three children, John, Joanne, and Jackie. Memories were made at their cabin, riding snow machines.

Doris worked hard through the years, including time with McLaren Hospital and Consumers Power in Michigan. After Richard’s retirement, they moved to Minnesota to be closer to Richard’s family and eventually care for his parents. Doris kept working there too, including at Hardware Hank in Long Prairie.

In retirement at their first Minnesota home, Doris poured her energy into flower and vegetable gardens while she and Richard cared for a large property that kept them busy and proud. Doris loved her flowers. Her children would get her flowers for special occasions, including a hanging basket for Mother’s Day and an amaryllis each Christmas.

After her move to Minnesota, Doris earned a brand-new title that quickly became her favorite. Granny.

Doris became a grandma for the first time and found a joy that only grew deeper as the family did. As Doris and Richard gained grandchildren, they made many road trips back and forth between Michigan and Minnesota. They loved to travel. They loved a good road trip. Doris was especially fond of mountain views.

After Richard’s death, Doris continued to travel, with the annual family camping trip becoming a treasured highlight. She loved the invaluable time when her whole family was together. It was a full week of kids, grandkids, and great grandkids gathered in different spots across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. There were card games that ran long, meals enjoyed together, and the happy chaos of little ones swimming, playing, and being loved on by Granny. Nights ended by the fire, especially the ones her son John would build, the kind of big, glowing campfires that pulled everyone close. Even when Doris could not be there in person, John would send her pictures of those fires so she could enjoy them from the comfort of her apartment.

Those camping trips meant the world to Doris. A lawn chair. Card games in the background. Family on each side of her. Doris soaking in time with her great grandchildren, then insisting on hugs from every child who walked by. She had a talent for sneaking in a kiss on the cheek before letting them go.

Whether camping or gathered at a house, if the family was together, odds were good you would find a deck of cards on the table.

Doris was an avid card player, and she passed that love down like an heirloom. She enjoyed 500, Oh Darn, Euchre, Rack-O, 5 Crowns, Joker Rummy, and poker. When everyone gathered, the cards came out and time disappeared. Just three days before she passed, Granny was sitting at the table, surrounded by family, playing cards. It is a memory that will forever bring comfort and smiles to those who loved her.

In between the big moments, Doris had her quiet joys too. You could often find her working through Star Tribune crossword puzzles, doing cross stitch, or watching the birds outside her window. Doris was fiercely protective of her bird feeders. She stood watch from her deck with a BB gun in hand, a sharp-eyed and steady shot who made it very clear the red squirrels did not stand a chance.

Later in life, Doris moved to Talamore Senior Living to be near her grandson & granddaughter-in-law, and she cherished the extra time with her great grandchildren. Doris was also very clear about one important detail. It was senior living, not assisted living. She wanted everyone to know that. She valued her independence and held onto it with a little stubborn pride that always made the family smile.

After moving to St. Cloud, she enjoyed frequent visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There were games of 5 Crowns, impromptu gymnastics shows, Perkins breakfast, car chats and Tuesday night grocery shopping trips, which always included buying Snickers ice cream bars to keep her freezer well stocked for any kids who stopped by.

Doris was stubborn, independent, and thoughtful. She cared fiercely for her family. She loved every hug or snuggle she could get from the children in her life. She was a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on those who loved her.

Because Doris loved the camping tradition so deeply, it feels right that at the upcoming annual camping trip in August, her family plans to hold her memorial and burial. In the immediate time, the family invites you to a visitation at Emblom Brenny Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN, on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00pm.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard John (Karen Benore) Waldoch of Grand Blanc, MI, Joanne Marie (Dennis Sobiech) Waldoch of Little Falls, MN, Jacquelyn Carol (Michael) Owens of Holly, MI; five grandchildren, Richard Jeffrey (Kayla) Waldoch, Nicole (Evan) Young, Rachel Owens, Randi (Kyle) Flynn and Michelle Waldoch; five great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Evelyn Waldoch, Griffin and Anna Young, and Kaiser Weiss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings; Kenneth (Ruth) McClain, Lyle (Nadine) McClain, Ross (Billie Jean) McClain and Carol (Bob) Singler.

Pat Marie (Yoerg) Bailey

Pat (Yoerg) Bailey, 84, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls. Her struggle with dementia has ended, and her family finds comfort knowing she is now at rest.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, with Father Ben Kociemba officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Highland Senior Living in memory of Pat.

Pat shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with her sweetheart and devoted husband, Jay. She was the proud mother of four daughters, and her family was always her greatest accomplishment.

Outside her family, her greatest joy was her garden. She had a remarkable eye for flowers, carefully planning each bed and thoughtfully placing every bloom (or directing Jay exactly where it should go). Her yard was admired throughout the neighborhood, a reflection of her patience and pride. Pat was also a talented seamstress and embroiderer, enjoyed painting on barnwood, and loved to sing.

Even as her health declined in recent years, she met each day with determination. On even the hardest days, she would often offer a smile and say, “It’s fine, I’m fine, Everything is fine.”

Pat’s playful spirit will be dearly missed. She had her eye on the last brownie or slice of cake, often insisting, “I don’t need that last one — I’ll just take half.” Somehow, that half had a way of disappearing entirely. April Fool’s Day was her championship season. She short-sheeted beds, baked cotton balls into cupcakes for unsuspecting tasters, and once even stitched the sleeves of her daughters’ nightgowns shut. She kept her family laughing and always on their toes.

Pat’s life was one of steady love, simple joys, unwavering faith — and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. She will be deeply missed by her husband Jay; her four daughters; six grandsons; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson.

Her memory will live on in blooming gardens, tidy homes, well-played pranks, and shared desserts.

Pat is survived by her husband and best friend Jay Bailey; children: Kim Plettl (Frank Holz), Kris Erickson (Marc), Jean Sigurdson (Dan), Maria Bailey (Jim Wobschall); grandchildren: Mick Erickson (Cathy), Brad Erickson (Amber Struchen), Rick Plettl (Amanda Johnson), Aaron Plettl, Nick Sigurdson (Lizzie), Alex Sigurdson (Kat); great grandchildren: Shaydon Erickson, Brian Shaarda, Owen, Evan and Ivee Erickson, Tate Sigurdson; and a great-great grandchild: Soren Shaarda. Sisters: Jean (Yoerg) Krause and Ann Yoerg and many treasured extended families and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Marie (Keller) Yoerg; brother, William Yoerg; sister, Mary Beth (Yoerg) Eidenshink; brothers-in-law, Jim Eidenshink, Joseph Krause and son-in-law Marc Erickson.
