Christmas peptalk from Mustard Seeds:
Whether you are grieving the physical loss of a loved one, or you are a caregiver constantly in a state of chronic grief, spending the holiday in the hospital with yet another procedure, and childhood experience stolen by a chronic condition, or you’ve added another complication to your pile, reliving the initial diagnosis, allow yourself time to feel it. Acknowledge how it manifests. Holding/hiding your grief causes your cortisol to rise, and when stress consumes, it leaves little gifts like inflammation, autoimmune flareups, and other physical and mental health complications, including a break down in your immune system.
Find time to grieve, but let’s not get stuck there. Find the joy in the journey, soak up the right now, and find the blessing in whatever storm you’re facing. There are little blessing in every single day. If we are too busy avoiding the grief, we might miss the blessings of today. Let’s intentionally be in the moment, so we can soak them all up. If grief teaches us anything, it’s that time is the most valuable gift. Let’s make a pact to not stay stuck regretting the past or worrying about the future, but instead, enjoying the here and now.
Find time for self care, meditation and breath work (there’s an online class for that… you can PM me for details 😆🤪). Otherwise, 2023 has been rough… let’s kick it to the curb and get ready for 2024… I bet it’s going to be interesting, to say the least. Let’s make it a year of healing. 🙃
