UAMS Palliative Medicine

UAMS Palliative Medicine Welcome to the UAMS Division of Palliative Medicine page, highlighting the only HPM Fellowship program in Arkansas!

For patients who are dealing with serious illnesses, it’s important to know there is specialized medical care focused on relief from symptoms, pain and stress. Whether it’s a curable illness, a chronic disease or end-of-life issues, palliative (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) care aims to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. At UAMS, palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses and other specialists who work with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided together with curative treatment.

We are so proud of our graduating fellows!! Well done Drs. Johnstonbaugh, Moreaux, and Gibson!
