šŸ™šŸ½ PRAISE REPORT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON šŸ™ŒšŸ½

Sunday morning, I received a call from a worried mother—desperate to bring her only son home for the holidays. He had been living on the streets, but she had an application and a job waiting for him. We prayed, and I had faith in God’s ability to answer, so I promised to do my best.

ā€œThe effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.ā€ — James 5:16

Just one day earlier, during Synergy Saturday—over coffee and through patient navigation—I encouraged her son to consider returning home. I offered him my phone to call his mother, and he did. In that moment, I watched life return to his countenance and hope rise in his broken heart.

ā€œA bruised reed shall He not break, and a smoking flax shall He not quench.ā€ — Isaiah 42:3

I promised his mother I would search the streets for her son. So I hydrated, dressed for the elements, and went looking. After three hours with no success, I encountered one of his unhoused friends—the last person seen with him. We talked for a while, and I asked for his help. He obliged.

ā€œAnd let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.ā€ — Galatians 6:9

After another 30 minutes of searching without success, I compensated him for his time with a blessing for his empty pockets and offered him a ride to get some coffee to warm his shivering body. His choices were Circle K and McDonald's. I advised him that ā€œMickey D’sā€ was a closer walk back to his spot. He agreed. We said our goodbyes, and I asked him to share his friend’s mother’s wish that he come home.

As I drove off, I felt the slightest urge to glance back over my shoulder.

ā€œTrust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.ā€ — Proverbs 3:5–6

Lo and behold, unbeknownst to me, there, standing in McDonald’s doorway, stood our person of interest. So there they were—running in the parking lot of McDonald’s—both of them—arms flailing, waving me back like a rescue plane signaling for landing. I joyfully turned around to fulfill a mother’s prayer, promise, and wish.

The son shared that he had just prayed to God for a way home.

ā€œBefore they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.ā€ — Isaiah 65:24

On the journey home, he spoke with his anxious, joy-filled, and praising mother—rejoicing as her prodigal son was returning.

ā€œFor this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.ā€ — Luke 15:24

His friend was safely returned to his spot, encouraged with hope, prayer, and the promises of God.

And I received my blessing too—because God answered my prayers, guided my steps, and allowed me to complete my assignment. I promised only what I could deliver… and by God’s grace, I over-delivered on that promise.

ā€œNow unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or thinkā€¦ā€ — Ephesians 3:20

All glory to God for answering the prayers of a loving mother and a lost son. šŸ™šŸ½šŸ§”šŸ’š

Service Above Self in action! Today at Rotary Club of Little Rock, we transformed our meeting into a hands-on in-service—tying ribbons on 200 Build-A-Bear teddy bears generously donated by Park Plaza Mall. Deep gratitude to Teresa Poe for the gift, Dr. Riva Brown and the American Red Cross Arkansas Chapter for their tireless leadership, Past-President Jason Chacko for the visionary idea, and President Mitch Bettis for championing it. Proud to help deliver these bears to their temporary home as they prepare to bring comfort and hope to children in need. Small acts. Big impact. šŸ’›šŸ»āœØ

Screenings save lives! Health screenings catch diseases, illnesses or potential causes in earliest stages when either treatment, an all-natural supplement, or simple lifestyle change has its greatest chance for success. Because our free health screenings have a minimum per-person value of $100, it can be said that for every $100 raised a life is saved! Our participants are empowered by knowing their numbers for the sake of their health and healthy lifestyles. Synergy Saturday encourages its participants to lead healthier, longer, and more productive lives. Our proactive approach is simply to invest in the health of others in efforts to trim healthcare costs and improve communal productivity ... the synergy of life. Synergy Saturday, a 501(c)(3) exempt organization, is the world's first weekly inter-professional pop-up style screening event. It helps people to connect the dots with their screening numbers to draw and see a complete picture of better health. Our name represents our collaborative efforts in population health each Saturday. We are your advocates and innovative solution for affordable, functional and preventative health.

Synergy Saturday is the 2019 Minority Support Organization of the Year winner. Larry Freeman, CEO/Founder, is the 2020 Nonprofit Executive of the Year and 2020 Healthcare Heroes Community Outreach of the Year winner.
