The Little Rock Chess Club

The Little Rock Chess Club The Little Rock Chess Club, an affiliate of the USCF, is devoted to chess players in Little Rock and the surrounding area who enjoy the game!

The Little Rock Chess Club is one of several chess clubs in Little Rock, Arkansas. We meet on Friday nights in the Alcoa Room located on the north side of the hospital from around 7:45 pm until midnight. This room is located on the north (far righthand side) of the building as you face the entrance. If you go through the front doors, through the lobby, and turn right before you reach the elevators, you will proceed down a very long hallway until you come to the Alcoa Room on the right. Blitz, skittles, and bughouse are all played. There are no dues requirements--it is a casual atmosphere. Come, watch, play and go as you please. We hope to see you there!

One night as we were leaving the LR Chess Club I said to someone, “Hey! Take my picture with Mike!” This is the picture. Michael K. Cornett passed away Friday afternoon from liver cancer. I last spoke with him a little over a week ago. We had a lot of fun over the last 30 years playing chess or bughouse or just talking about chess, movies, etc. One night at the chess club he said, “Joey, it’s just not chess club without you.” Mike, it won’t ever be chess club again without you. Goodbye, my friend!
