Before you get your weekend started, let me remind you that next week is going to full of activities that you make want to put on your calendar right now!

The Arkansas HIV Reform & Justice Coalition is a collective of individuals, advocates, organizations and allies who are supporting reform to the state's current HIV Criminalization statue and the lack of state funding of HIV prevention and programs.

On April 28th, the group will be educating legislators at the State Capitol on the subject matter and highly encourages PLW and supporters to call your representatives and ask them to attend.
Get more info on this year's session at https://arkleg.state.ar.us/

It's important that Arkansas reforms our law to coincide with current science and that our state budget addresses the current drive to decrease new HIV infections in Arkansas by 90 percent by 2030.

Last night, we created space for reflection, honesty, and healing.

As part of our Sexual Assault Awareness Month event with Central Arkansas Pride, we invited participants to respond to two questions:

• What helped you to heal?
• What makes you feel safe?

The answers filled these boards.

For healing, people shared things like "patience and understanding from my loved ones", "spirituality", "hope", "my cats", "community & learning to be vulnerable", "a safe person with common experience", and "having shared the trauma & not keeping it alone".

For safety, people responded with "you're never alone", "being in a nonjudgmental space", "shared experiences", "music & singing", "support from a safe person", "you have people who care about you here", "my time alone to recharge & rest", and "being with like-minded people".

Each note holds a real experience. Each one points to what people need to feel supported.

Healing looks different for everyone. Safety looks different for everyone. But the message is clear—people need care, respect, and spaces where they are heard.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared. Thank you to Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault & Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence for participating and supporting.

If you need support or resources, Arkansas RAPPS is here to help.

The Adolescent Medicine Trials Network (ATN) is enrolling young people ages 16-24 into a study helping to shape the future of adolescent health—please help share this opportunity with your networks!

The IMPACT study helps young people reimagine joy by combining sexual health counseling with evidence-based talk therapy to treat depression, reduce HIV acquisition and transmission likelihood among young people who engage in stimulant drug use (e.g., crystal methamphetamine, co***ne, ecstasy, M**A) during sexual activity, and encourages youth to reengage in healthier activities they enjoy.

Get up to $825 for completing this harm reduction talk therapy and sexual health counseling program. Find out if you qualify!

And get ready as we are preparing a cypher version to allow you to do a "re-mix" of the jingle. Arkansas RAPPS will be establishing a panel of judges to decide who does it best.

The winner will receive a Experience Prize Package valued at $500! Listen up on the stations and get ready to show us how you "Stay Ready!" For more info reach out to info@arrapps.org and watch for the Stay Ready van across the state!!

What would you do if it happened to you? What if it happened to someone you love?

This week, Central Arkansas Pride and Arkansas RAPPS are creating space to talk about it.
📅 Thursday, April 16 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM
📍 The Living Room Wellness Resource Center | 8615 Chicot Rd, Little Rock, AR

This is a free community conversation covering the things that often go unsaid — from what actually happens after an assault to how trauma lives in the body to what healing can realistically look like for LGBTQIA+ people to prevention and staying ready.

Thursday evening, we'll cover:
• What to do after an assault
• Reporting options & your right to choose
• How trauma affects the mind and body
• LGBTQIA+ specific barriers and experiences
• Consent, harm reduction, and sexual health resources
• Where to go from here
The evening includes perspectives from mental health and sexual health professionals — plus open Q&A, a resource QR code, and a lived experience story. Pizza provided. Come as you are.
Some content may be heavy. We'll name that upfront and make sure everyone has what they need to take care of themselves throughout the evening.

Free and open to all.
Hosted by Central Arkansas Pride and Arkansas RAPPS in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
