So many things to be said, and it all starts with
This is why... (fill in the blank)
Unfortunately, for the state of AR, there are so many NEGATIVE statements regarding maternal and infant mortality & morbidity that can go in that blank that this post will take ALL FOUR of the evers to flush out.
So many questions that I have, like-
What did maternal care look like for the number of births to decline?
Did we do our due diligence in researching why?
Did we truly try to fix what we found?
Did the population change or quality of caređ¤¨
In conclusion, EVERYONE (in high places) who can positively impact "the numbers" knows "the numbers." However, for some reason, "the numbers" are still "the numbers." That is why doulas are important. That is why midwives are important. Because while EVERYONE else is talking about "the numbers", we are the boots on the ground working to ensure you can have the best birth possible.
Baptist Health-Fort Smith will shut down its services for pregnancy, childbirth, and NICU.
