As part of the studioMAIN Beyond the Divide project in downtown Little Rock, the Arkansas Arts Council is hosting a FREE mural workshop that uses Hugg & Hall Mobile Storage shipping containers as the canvas. The event invites the community to see how containers can be transformed into creative spaces that celebrate West Ninth Street’s history while sparking new energy and opportunity along the corridor. Led by artist Anthony Tidwell! Happening on April 6th at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center 11am!

SAFETY FOR PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS
Members of the Board of Directors approved a street reconfiguration project for Cumberland Street, between President Clinton Avenue and Third Street, as funds become available. This project, the result of a successful pilot program with studioMAIN and Create Little Rock, will reduce the number of vehicle lanes and create bike lanes that support all active transportation users in the community. 🚲

LITTLE ROCK and ALL SMALL BLACK BUSINESSES! Help us spread the word. Little Rock's West 9th Street once stood as one of Arkansas's most vibrant centers of Black commerce and culture — home to many Black-owned businesses and a stage for legends like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and B.B. King.
This April, studioMAIN's Beyond the Divide project is bringing that entrepreneurial spirit back to life.
The Beyond the Divide Small Black Business District is launching a month-long pop-up marketplace along West 9th Street's historic corridor from April 1–30, 2026. Up to 22 vendors will occupy an innovative shipping container district, with built-in foot traffic, marketing and small business support.
We're looking for entrepreneurs and creatives from across Little Rock's diverse community who are ready to grow — and ready to be part of a living legacy. If you know of ANY Small Black Business owners that are just starting out or have years of experience, please tell them to apply to be a part of this project! This is a cultural moment for the community to reclaim its legacy here in Little Rock on W 9th Street!

Banks described plans for a “quick-build project” in which West Ninth Street would be transformed for at least 30 days “into an accessible, vibrant, historic, culture-rich street three blocks from Broadway all the way to right here on South State Street.”
