Our Story

The UAMS Arkansas Geriatric Education Collaborative (AGEC) mission is to provide FREE high quality programs that support healthy aging in Arkansas. All events on our page are open to the public and also by request on location for community organizations like churches, senior centers, and other locations serving older adults and caregivers in Arkansas.

The UAMS AGEC is funded by a $3.74 million grant by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) under grant # U1QHP28723.

Programs are available for older adults, health professionals, first responders, and family caregivers in Arkansas. Many of our programs are available for large groups (20 or more people) on location by request.

Programs include Mind and Body programs (Tai Chi, Ageless Grace), Dementia/Alzheimer’s programs (Workshops, Simulations, Community Education), Healthy Lifestyle programs (Diabetes, Falls Prevention, Chronic Pain Self-Management), and special topics for older adults including storytelling, understanding opioids, podcasts, and healthy cooking.
