The Maroon Bells are two of the most photographed mountains in all of North America. Rising more than 14,000 feet above sea level, the twin peaks are striped with snow all summer long. It's popularity and abundance of tourism has led to overcrowding on roads, trails and damage to the vegetation, but the recent permit and reservation system has helped combat this, limiting the number of visitors each day. And makes for a much more enjoyable experience!
