🌀Do you have a prolapse, pelvic heaviness/bulging, or stubborn leakage? Are you bothered now but concerned it’s going to keep getting worse? Or maybe you’ve already stopped doing the things you used to enjoy like running or lifting weights. Or, maybe you’re just tired of wearing black leggings all the time due to leakage💧
🌀Or it could be that you feel limited running around with your kids because of what’s going on in your pelvis…and you’re thinking, if this is happening now, what’s to come in 5, 10, 20 years…?
🙌🏽 Know that there is help for all the above! Generally, clinical guidelines* recommend trying non-surgical options first in managing prolapse/pelvic heaviness. Here are some options:
🌟Pelvic floor therapy: train the pelvic floor and muscles around the pelvis to build support around a prolapse, learn how to control the pressures going down onto a prolapse and other effective management techniques.
🌟Lifestyle modifications: including things like avoiding constipation, modifying exercise and activities, weight mngt, etc to reduce stress on a prolapse
🌟Pessary: A first-line treatment! Pessaries function like a sports bra for your va**na, they are small soft pieces of (typically) silicone worn internally to help support the extra movement of the va**nal wall. They are easy to manage and a great solution for many! We offer pessary services in-house at Core Connections - reach out if you’d like more info! If you’ve tried a pessary before and been less than satisfied, we’re also happy to help troubleshoot with more options
🌟Topical estrogen cream if indicated to improve tissue quality
🌟Surgical treatments used with the aim of restoring va**nal anatomy
🙌🏽Treatment options may be explored individually or combined, and it’s all about finding what works best for you. If you have questions or aren’t sure where to start, send us a message or call/text at 720-823-3030.
